About the Role

We are looking for an outstanding Vice Principal, as Head of Kindergarten, to join our team. The successful candidate will be familiar with modern educational approaches and be responsible for the teaching and learning dynamics, curriculum and staff development for KG.

Responsibilities include:
  • Build teacher capacity through training teachers in International best practice in the Kindergarten.
  • Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values and Modern vision.
  • Support with implementation of all staff related policies, advice on staff needs and views through regular updates.
  • Make substitution and arrange for supply teachers, establish a seamless working relationship with teachers in the learning teaching dynamics.
  • Arrange timetables and work allocation, arrange optimum use of resources and facilities by staff.
  • Manage academic plans and monitor progress.
  • Arrange regular open houses with a focus on developing closer Parental ties.
  • Interact on a need basis to address say to day problems and issues raised by the Parental community.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings with academic agendas to develop coordination among teachers & grades.
  • Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
  • Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers / supervisors.
  • Ensure that the Kindergarten programme is aligned with the philosophy, standards, and practices of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP)
  • Collaborate with other PYP leaders in the school to ensure vertical alignment and consistency is maintained.
  • Lead and support teachers in the implementation of the PYP curriculum, including the development of inquiry-based learning experiences that promote conceptual understanding and transdisciplinary connections.
  • Monitor and analyze student performance data to inform instructional practices and curriculum development.

The ideal candidate will meet the following minimum job requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years teaching Early years/KG in a reputed school. Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role with a proven track record.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching within the PYP framework, in Kindergarten.
  • Possess a certified and internationally recognised Post Graduate/Graduate university degree (obtained in person). Teacher training qualification, preferably with Early Years/KG/PYP.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and supporting teams of teachers, staff development and change management.
  • Possess knowledge of current trends and research in early childhood education and the PYP.
  • A creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues (within the department and across phases) and families from diverse cultural backgrounds
