Position Summary

The Engineering Department Head (Arabic Speaking) is responsible for overseeing all engineering functions within the company. This includes managing technical teams, reviewing designs, coordinating with clients and consultants--especially Arabic-speaking clients--and ensuring all engineering deliverables meet project standards and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Department Management

Lead and supervise engineers, draftsmen and technical staff. Allocate tasks, manage workloads and ensure timely completion of all engineering submissions. Conduct team meetings and provide technical guidance and training. Evaluate team performance and recommend improvements.

2. Technical & Design Oversight

Review, verify and approve shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical documents. Ensure compliance with project specifications, IFC drawings and industry standards. Provide technical solutions and resolve design issues. Coordinate with procurement for technical selections and approvals.

3. Client & Consultant Coordination (Arabic Communication)

Communicate effectively with Arabic-speaking clients, consultants and authorities. Attend meetings and represent the company for technical discussions. Handle clarification requests, variations and engineering-related correspondence in Arabic when required. Ensure smooth coordination between site teams and Arabic-speaking clients.

4. Site & Project Support

Work closely with project managers and site engineers to ensure designs match site conditions. Resolve site technical issues swiftly to avoid delays. Implement engineering changes and ensure proper documentation.

5. Quality, Compliance & Documentation

Ensure that all engineering work follows local authority regulations and project quality standards. Liaise with QA/QC teams to maintain technical accuracy. Maintain records of engineering deliverables, revisions and approvals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant engineering field. 8-12 years of experience in construction/contracting with strong engineering leadership background. Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English (mandatory). Strong knowledge of local regulations and authority requirements (Dubai Municipality, DM, DEWA, Civil Defense, etc.). Skilled in engineering software: AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, Primavera, etc. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

Professional, confident, and able to handle high-level communication in Arabic. Strong decision-making skills and attention to detail. Able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects efficiently.
