Head of Design, Head of Engineering or Head of Technical - This person could hold various titles in the region but its the experience & duties that matter! Buildings Main Contractor are seeking a Head of Design Department.
Client is a UAE based Buildings Main Contractor with over 40 Years success delivering some of the most iconic projects in the United Arab Emirates. 5 * Hotels, Palaces, Airport Terminals, Metro Works, Luxury Residential, Mixed Use , Retail, Technology, Healthcare & High-Rise.
They have consistently won and delivered to the highest level on projects valued 250 Million AED to 3 Billion AED. Group has a huge amount of in-house capabilities with Joinery, MEP, Facades, Pre-Cast, Modular & Fit Out to all compliment the Main Contracting Business handling Buildings & Fit Out.
Reporting into the Group General Manager. Can you handle 12 live projects at execution stage on site as well as all Design, Technical & Engineering input at pre-construction and bidding stage ? This is not easy and needs delegation, management and high levels of organization to spin all the plates so to speak!
You will have a strong local UAE knowledge and awareness for design codes, rules & regulations, developers , consultants & architects. Your CV will show a clear track record in a relevant Design & Technical capacity Major Projects of 1 Billion AED + or having handled design / technical departments of 40 Plus Staff.
Key Skills & Experience that is essential in this post

• Manage all teams - CAD, BIM , Shop Drawings & Draughts Team
• Ensuring shop drawings are correct and work is delivered to the highest standard
• Following up with sub-consultants from the schematic design till the IFC stage
• Managing the engineering departments of several large-scale projects within the given time frame
• Providing technical solutions to the construction site teams and provide leadership guidance
• Managing project document control, including drawings, material submittal and specification control and interpretation
• Providing design interpretation, arranging timely collection of necessary information, data and drawings from the client/consultant
• Perform work methods improvement studies
• Liaising with Architects/Consultants/Local Authority personnel assigned to the project

Following needed for successful application

• Experience working for a reputable Buildings Main Contractor in the UAE in a relevant post
• Strong communication skills demonstrated from the off
• Can you delve into the technical detail needed
• Degree Qualified - 15 years post graduate ideally
• Strong technical awareness and understanding of the clients, rules, regulations and supply chain in the UAE
• Able to start before the 1st of November 2025
