Job Purpose

The Head of Design leads the creative vision, design strategy, and innovation for all interior fitout projects. This role ensures that design concepts align with client requirements, project objectives, and company standards, while guiding and mentoring the design team to deliver high-quality, functional, and aesthetic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

Define and drive the overall design vision, strategy, and creative direction of the company. Lead, inspire, and mentor the design team, ensuring continuous growth and development. Collaborate with senior management to align design objectives with business goals.

Design Development & Execution

Oversee concept creation, space planning, and material/finish selections for projects. Review and approve design proposals, drawings, and presentations before client submission. Ensure design solutions are innovative, practical, and in line with budget and timelines. Maintain high design standards that reflect the company's brand and market positioning.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Attend client meetings to understand requirements, present concepts, and manage feedback. Act as the design authority during presentations and discussions. Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Project Oversight

Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and site teams to ensure design intent is maintained during execution. Conduct regular site visits to review progress and resolve design-related issues. Ensure compliance with health, safety, sustainability, and regulatory requirements in all designs.

Innovation & Market Awareness

Keep up to date with global design trends, materials, and technologies. Introduce innovative ideas and solutions that enhance the company's competitive edge. Evaluate and adopt new design software and tools for efficiency.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills. Excellent client-facing and presentation abilities. Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3D Max, Photoshop, etc.). Deep understanding of interior fitout processes, materials, and finishes. Strong balance between creativity and practical execution. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. Minimum

10-15 years of experience

in interior design, with at least

5 years in a leadership role

within a fitout or design firm in UAE/GCC. Proven portfolio of completed commercial, retail, hospitality, and/or high-end residential projects. Strong knowledge of local regulations, building codes, and fitout standards in the UAE/GCC.
