Job Description

The Head of Data and Analytics will be responsible for designing and executing a data analytics strategy that empowers our exchange with deep insights into trading activity, user behavior, market trends, financial performance, risk exposure, and compliance reporting. You will work closely with leaders across Product, Compliance, Finance, Risk, Marketing, and Operations as well as Technology to deliver data solutions that enhance decision-making and business performance.


The ideal candidate has a strong background in data analytics, business intelligence, financial modeling, and reporting, particularly in the context of crypto, trading, or financial services. They should be able to translate business needs into analytical solutions and drive a data-driven culture across the organization.

Key areas of responsibility:

Data Strategy & Leadership:

Define and execute a data analytics strategy that supports the exchange's business, compliance, and financial objectives. Establish and champion a data-driven decision-making culture across teams. Collaborate with senior leadership to identify key performance metrics (KPIs) and ensure visibility into critical business operations through data. Work closely with the Head of Data Engineering to ensure analytics solutions are built on a scalable, secure, and reliable data infrastructure.

Analytics & Business Intelligence (BI) Development:

Design and build analytics solutions to track and visualize trading activity, user behavior, revenue, operational efficiency, and risk exposure. Develop real-time and batch reporting solutions to support decision-making across departments. Implement self-service BI tools and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or custom-built solutions) to empower teams with easy access to insights. Deliver predictive analytics and forecasting models to optimize trading volume, liquidity, customer acquisition, and retention. Support Finance, Risk, and Compliance teams by ensuring regulatory reports, audit trails, and financial models are data-driven and accurate.

Operational & Financial Insights:

Partner with the Product and Finance teams to analyze exchange revenues, trading fees, liquidity trends, and other financial data for strategic planning. Work with Compliance and Risk teams to develop risk exposure dashboards as well as detection and monitoring solutions. Provide trading and liquidity analytics to optimize market-making strategies and ensure healthy trading activity. Develop user segmentation models to drive targeted marketing and customer engagement strategies.

Regulatory & Compliance Reporting:

Ensure regulatory data compliance by developing robust reporting frameworks that meet local and international requirements (e.g., FATF, AML, KYC reporting). Support audit and regulatory reporting efforts by maintaining accurate and transparent data documentation and reporting structures. Implement data quality assurance processes to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

Team Management & Collaboration:

Lead a small but high-impact team of Data Analysts, BI Developers, and Data Scientists. Foster a collaborative relationship with technology, compliance, finance, marketing, and operations teams. Drive data literacy and training initiatives across the company to ensure teams can leverage data effectively.

Technical competencies and skills:

Strong expertise in data analytics, business intelligence (BI), and reporting tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, Mode). Advanced proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets. Experience with Python or R for data analysis and statistical modeling. Strong understanding of financial analytics, revenue modeling, and trading metrics in a crypto or financial services context. Knowledge of data visualization best practices and dashboard development. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and working alongside data engineering teams.

Strategic & Business Skills:

Experience defining KPIs and developing data-driven strategies to support business growth. Ability to translate business challenges into analytical solutions and actionable insights. Experience working in a regulated environment, with exposure to compliance and risk reporting. Strong knowledge of trading, liquidity, and crypto market dynamics. Ability to present complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.

Leadership & Communication:

Experience leading and mentoring a team of Data Analysts, BI Specialists, or Data Scientists. Ability to influence senior leadership and drive a data-first culture within the organization. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with engineering, finance, and compliance teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience in crypto exchanges, trading platforms, financial services, or fintech is highly preferred. Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools is a plus. Certifications in data analytics, BI, or financial modeling are a plus.
