Job Description

1. JOB SUMMARY / SCOPE: The Head Nurse and Quality assumes operational responsibility of the Clinic. Directs and supervises activities, interprets & implements policies, procedures and standards as per the DHA regulations as appropriate. He/ She facilitates in the implementation and monitoring of Quality Systems Management principles for the Clinic. Identifies training needs, plans and delivers sessions according to the learning needs of individuals as well as the departments. 2. RESPONSIBIITIES: Nursing Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises Nursing services personnel within the Clinic in accordance with the governmental bodies (DHA) and other regulatory standards.
  • Prepares work schedules and assigns personnel.
  • Conducts daily inspection of assigned patient care areas for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, infection control and risk management standards, and takes corrective actions/ makes recommendations where violations occur in order to remedy the situation.
  • Evaluates work performance and makes recommendations.
  • Directs maintenance of departmental facilities, equipment, supplies and materials to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
  • Ensures adequate supply of consumable and non-consumable items for patient care requirements through a systematic inventory and ordering process.
  • Establish and maintain inventories of equipment and other supplies and ensures that par levels are maintained.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with Clinic standards.
  • Ensures accurate maintenance of patients medical records and confidentiality of information contained therein.
  • Prepares written documentation as required by the Nursing department and maintains appropriate records and statistics.
  • Formulates departmental monthly reports.
  • Contributes in the implementation of total Quality Management program, aimed at best practice methods within a climate of customer focus.
  • Conducts Nursing Management meetings and other meetings as required and participates on committees as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.
Quality Responsibilities: 15. Supports clinical services; conducts audits, maintains appropriate data, monitors standards & regulations to identify deficiencies and recommends activities to meet standards. 16. Coordinates Internal (clinical and support function) Audit process; prepares schedules, reports and helps in setting corrective action plan. 17. Reviews Patient complains (care /negligence) for root cause analysis in order to facilitate effective resolutions. 18. Reviews and monitors Adverse Occurrence Reporting (AOR) for identification of actual and potential risks. 19. Recommends corrective and proactive methods for improvement; Issues AOR analysis & recommendations for improvement reports as assigned. 20. Conducts quarterly Quality awareness sessions. 21. Identifies process improvement requirements and ensures availability of updated internal processes that helps departments in delivery of patient care according to required standards. 22. Identifies non-compliance to established process standards, suggests improvement actions. 23. Conducts Clinic-wide performance improvement activities (e.g., performance improvement projects, clinical pathways, benchmarking). 24. Tracks and monitors organizational Quality indicators. 25. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings. 26. Performs all other additional assignments as requested by the Clinic Manager. 3. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION Registered Nurse or bachelor's degree in related healthcare discipline. EXPERIENCE 5-year (s) experience in Healthcare with 2-year (s) experience in Quality Management LANGUAGE SKILLS English (compulsory) Arabic (optional) SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Knowledge of quality improvement, statistical analysis, and accreditations/standards (JCI and/or ISO) Process Improvement, Analyzing, Strategic Planning and Quality Engineering skills; Attention to Detail and ability to Multi- task Good communication skills Flexible and open minded approach Good commitment and ability to make things happen Sound interpersonal relationship. Excellent computer skills. Good team player Good leadership skills 4. OTHER: LICENSURE/REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS Valid Medical Professional Nurse License. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)/ American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification or international equivalent preferred.
