Job description

Aldar Education is currently seeking an outstanding Head of MOE Subjects for Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing in January 2024. Mamoura British Academy is a British curriculum, mixed gender primary school and a girl\xe2\x80\x99s only secondary school located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi.   • Ensures a safe and secure environment that allows for appropriate social, emotional, cultural, and academic growth for all students.
  • Ensures that the MOE instructional program is compatible and compliant with all statutory requirements.
  • Supports the school leadership team in strategic planning and developing policies and procedures for the purpose of achieving the Academy\xe2\x80\x99s vision, strategic intentions and USPs, and compliance with accreditation guidelines, international education standards, local laws and regulations.
  • Oversight of operational aspects of the MOE instructional program ensuring development and quality assurance of the program, including but not limited to curriculum development, extra-curricular activities, faculty and staff evaluation, timetabling/scheduling/cover requirements, etc.
  • Is directly involved in the design and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.
  • Works collaboratively with Aldar Education, ensuring that school practices relating to MOE instruction are in line with Aldar Education policies.
  • To lead on the organization and administration of the MOE subjects International Benchmark Assessments, analyse examination outcomes and identify next steps.
A. To lead learning within the department through:
  • Providing a vision for learning within the department in line with Mamoura British Academy Learner and Teacher DNA.
  • Leading on curriculum design and sequencing for all MOE subjects.
  • Ensuring Very Good and Outstanding standards of teaching; addressing any concerns where teaching falls below the required standards.
  • Ensuring high standards of learning, addressing any issues evident from data analysis, self-review, or ADEK inspection where learning falls below the required standards.
  • Support SEN (POD) and G&T students and ensuring that their needs are met through differentiation and high-quality interventions in the subjects.
  • To ensure the quality of teaching in MOE subjects is of the highest standard, ensuring lessons are relevant, engaging, challenging and support the Mamoura British Academy Learner and Teacher DNA.
  • Ensuring that all subjects have schemes of work that enable examination objectives and other whole school objectives to be met. Ensuring that those courses are appropriately resourced.
  • Ensuring that learning is personalised through effective use of assessment data and assessment practice including focused work for all ability levels.
  • Supporting staff in dealing effectively with student behaviour in line with school policy in order to remove barriers to learning.
  • Ensuring that staff complete school monitoring, recording and reporting requirements to a high standard.
A. To lead, train, support and manage department staff through:
  • Keeping up-to-date with relevant MOE subject developments and subject specific practice.
  • Facilitating the sharing of good practice through meetings and professional development sessions.
  • To lead annual performance management of colleagues under direct line management.
B. To lead the department\'s monitoring, evaluation and review (MER) and improvement planning work by:
  • Analysing the examination results of students working within the subjects and agreeing and implementing action points.
  • Contributing to the Academy\xe2\x80\x99s annual school SEF and School Development Plan.
  • Observing lessons through drop ins, learning walks and observations.
  • Ensuring the effective use of self-review.
  • Preparing improvement plans for the department.
  • Developing and leading the department MER cycle, evaluating outcomes and implementing next steps to improve the MOE department.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor degree in Education or Bachelor Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in an international school setting
  • Leadership experience in curriculum development, instructional strategies and standards-based assessment

Al Mamoura Academy is a partly co-educational international school located in Abu Dhabi, first accepting an intake of students in 2016.
