Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Supervision & Maintenance

Monitor the gym area to ensure all members are following proper gym etiquette, safety protocols, and using equipment correctly. Ensure gym equipment is in good working order; report any damage or malfunction and perform minor maintenance tasks if necessary. Maintain cleanliness throughout the gym by wiping down equipment, cleaning floors, and ensuring the locker rooms and restrooms are tidy.

Customer Service & Assistance

Greet and assist gym members, answer questions, and provide information about gym services, equipment, and classes. Offer guidance to members on the proper use of gym equipment and safe workout practices. Provide support during peak hours, ensuring members feel comfortable and have access to all necessary equipment.

Equipment Management

Ensure all gym equipment is well-maintained, properly stored, and cleaned after each use. Monitor gym supplies (e.g., towels, water bottles) and ensure they are stocked and available for members. Help set up or organize gym areas for group fitness classes, personal training sessions, or special events.

Safety & Risk Management

Monitor gym activities to ensure safety protocols are followed, including using equipment properly, maintaining space between participants, and ensuring members are aware of gym rules. Be proactive in spotting potential hazards and take corrective actions immediately. Be trained in CPR, first aid, and emergency procedures to respond to any health-related emergencies.

Administrative Support

Assist with membership check-ins and process any necessary administrative tasks, including updating member records, answering phone calls, or assisting with scheduling. Provide support to fitness instructors or personal trainers when needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent (or in progress for students). Previous experience in a fitness or gym environment is preferred but not required. Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Knowledge of basic gym equipment and fitness terminology. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform duties, including cleaning, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
