To operate grooving machines in a metal fabrication setup to produce precise grooves on metal pipes, sheets, or components as per engineering drawings and production requirements while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate grooving machines to perform precision grooving, cutting, and shaping operations on metal components.
Set up machines by selecting proper tools, dies, and settings according to job specifications and technical drawings.
Ensure grooving dimensions meet tolerances using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain production quality.
Perform regular cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance of the grooving machine.
Identify and report mechanical issues, defects, or irregularities in materials or equipment.
Maintain production logs and report daily output to the supervisor.
Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE while operating machinery.
Collaborate with fabrication and quality control teams to ensure product standards are consistently met.
Requirements:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a
Grooving Machine Operator
in a
metal fabrication or manufacturing industry.
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
Strong understanding of grooving techniques for various metals (e.g., stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum).
Familiarity with hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and meet production deadlines.
Education:
High school diploma or ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fabrication, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with
Victaulic-type pipe grooving machines
or similar industrial equipment.
Understanding of welding, cutting, or other metal fabrication processes.
Forklift or material handling experience.
Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
