Job Summary

We are seeking a Downstream Process Engineer with experience in utilities processes (GTGs, STGs, desalinating water unit, raw water unit, power generation, boilers, cooling water, demineralized water, boiler feedwater, waste water treatment facilities and recovery, Nitrogen generation & storage, flares, etc) to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence organization under the Downstream Global Manufacturing Support Department (GMSD). GMSD\'s technical team is a multi-disciplinary team provides the required high-quality technical support to GM operating facilities (Refineries, NGLF, and petrochemical plants) inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia & across the globe. Your primary role will be to provide process engineering and operations expertise to monitor, optimize, and drive performance improvement programs for Utilities, including remote and field technical advisory support and benchmarking of utilities. You will drive the performance improvement programs which enhance process safety, optimize manufacturing cost, and increase utilities reliability.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and monitor existing Utilities performances using KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for operability, profitability, reliability, and process safety.
  • Issue quarterly utilities performance benchmarking reports, including KPI analysis and recommendations for performance improvement.
  • Monitor and support facilities in implementing recommendations and closing performance gaps identified in benchmarking reports.
  • Conduct benchmarking and best practices exchange workshops among Global Manufacturing facilities (wholly-owned and affiliates).
  • Provide on-demand remote and/or field technical advisory support to Global Manufacturing facilities on Utilities operation, including process design, troubleshooting, start-up, shutdown, and capacity test runs. Issue service reports summarizing activities and outcomes.
  • Propose cost optimization or process improvement initiatives, focusing on low-cost or minimal capital investment solutions through operational adjustments or design modifications, in collaboration with Global Manufacturing facility engineers.
  • Conduct internal assessments on Utilities using This Company engineering standards and highlight any deviations or better practices applied by affiliates for endorsement to facility management or This Company Central Engineering.
  • Act as the overall coordinator for implementing and monitoring Global Manufacturing and Corporate programs related to Utilities in operating facilities.
  • Participate in Business Plan development and collaborate with stakeholders on capital investments for assigned Utilities, supporting techno-economic evaluations.
  • Stay informed about Utilities technology developments in the industry and endorse evaluations and approvals to Central Engineering for field deployment.
  • Support the arrangement and facilitation of technical knowledge exchange workshops with major equipment suppliers for Utilities and Global Manufacturing facilities.
  • Participate in hazard operability (HAZOP) and safety integrity level (SIL) studies as required by Utility operating facilities.
Requirements:
  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
  • Hold a Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Possess a minimum of 15 years of total experience in Utilities units, including both process engineering and operations.
  • Have at least 10 years of specific experience in handling utilities.
  • Preference for candidates with exposure to major equipment suppliers/package units for Utilities.
