Job Summary

We are seeking a Downstream Process Engineer with experience in processes related to the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence organization under the Downstream Global Manufacturing Support Department (GMSD). (The Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain primarily includes Ethylene Oxide, Ethylene Glycol, Propylene Oxide and Propylene Glycol). GMSD\'s technical team is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for providing the required high-quality technical support to our Global Manufacturing operating facilities (Refineries, NGLF, and petrochemical plants) inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia & across the globe. Your primary role will be to provide process engineering, operations and technical expertise to monitor, optimize, and drive performance improvement and value creation programs for processes related to the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain, including remote and field technical advisory support, benchmarking, technology knowledge management and exchange of the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain, and drive the performance improvement programs which enhance process safety, optimize manufacturing cost, and increase plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and monitor the performances of existing manufacturing facilities in the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain using key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operability, profitability, reliability, energy efficiency, and process safety.
  • Issue quarterly process unit performance benchmarking reports highlighting KPIs, analysis, and performance improvement recommendations.
  • Monitor and support facilities in implementing the recommendations and closing performance gaps identified in the benchmarking reports.
  • Optimize the performance of producing units in the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain through in-depth plant monitoring and oversight.
  • Conduct benchmarking and best practices exchange workshops among Global Manufacturing facilities with relevant process technologies.
  • Provide technical advisory support to Global Manufacturing facilities on matters related to plant operation and process design improvements, issuing service reports for each support activity.
  • Coordinate and drive Global Manufacturing and Corporate programs to the operating facilities for execution and effective monitoring.
  • Participate in Business Plan development and coordinate with stakeholders for capital investments in assigned process units.
  • Participate in hazard operability (HAZOP) and safety integrity level (SIL) studies as required by operating facilities.
  • Participate in incident investigation activities related to the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for unit operations, investigate off-spec products, and manage deliverables during turnarounds and unplanned shutdowns/startups.
  • Perform process parameters gap analysis and benchmarking among Global Manufacturing facilities with relevant process technologies to share best practices, lessons learned, areas for improvements, and technical recommendations.
  • Conduct benchmarking and best practices technical exchange workshops among Global Manufacturing facilities producing chemicals in the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain based on Benchmarking & Best Practices Exchange Agreements.
Requirements:
  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related specialization. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years\' experience within a refinery or petrochemical process unit, including experience in process engineering and operations.
  • At least 10 years\' experience in handling plants related to the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain.
  • Exposure to different process licensor technologies related to the Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide value chain is preferred.
  • Strong mentorship skills with the ability and drive to guide the development of junior engineers.
  • Familiarity and understanding of best practices, design principles, international engineering standards, and specifications relevant to the operation of the concerned process units.
