The Global Engagement (GE) team, within the Social Responsibility function, is a specialist team, comprising of subject-matter experts around the world in countries where Amazon sources and operates. We work with Amazon business teams to provide suppliers and service providers with guidance and tools on how to remediate and prevent risks, and drive positive outcomes for workers.

We are looking for a Global Engagement Lead, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), to manage Social Responsibility (SR) work and ensure that suppliers, service providers and vendors in the region have the understanding, skills, and tools needed to proactively identify and address risks to workers and communities. You will be sitting at the intersection of and required to partner with Amazon\'s operations businesses and SR for WWOps (Amazon Worldwide Operations) team. You will drive timely identification and escalation of existing/emerging risks and opportunities and recommend program interventions/solutions that are based on the specific risks, in the region.

Key job responsibilities
  • Engage with various Amazon businesses, SR for WW Ops and other internal teams to understand business needs, identify gaps, assess risk, and implement strategies to operationalize Amazon\'s Supply Chain Standards (SCS) throughout our value chain and operations.
  • Proactively identify, advise, align and coordinate with Amazon businesses on identified risks, opportunities, and corresponding actions.
  • Facilitate discussions with internal teams and select external stakeholders to design and test regional risk management mechanisms and strategies
  • Lead day-to-day execution of Global Engagement services to the Amazon businesses and supplier/vendors to enable their capacity building around identified priority issues and risks
  • Initiate and lead assessments/investigations and partnership discussions, negotiations and contract development and oversee implementation of improvement programs
  • Explore development of dedicated programs across Amazon\'s key commitment areas, particularly around: worker voice, responsible recruitment, fair wages, health and safety and forced labour.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor degree in Project Management, Sustainability, Social Work or Business Administration.
  • 8+ years of experience in human rights or ethical/responsible sourcing within global supply chains and/or operations.
  • 8+ years of experience delivering cross functional projects
  • Prior experience owning development of strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; communicating successfully across cultures
  • Experience in influencing key stakeholders both internally and externally
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with operations, transportation, logistics, and/or procurement functions is
  • Experience working in MENA region
  • Experience working on (or demonstrated passion for) forced labor/human trafficking/modern slavery, human rights, labor rights, multi-stakeholder initiatives, international development, labor rights training, or social responsibility
  • Experience working in an international context
  • Experience working with external stakeholders such as NGOs, investors, and/or government.
