Job Title: Geotechnical Manager

Location: UAE - Al Ain City

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Geotechnical Manager to lead and manage geotechnical drilling, soil investigation, laboratory testing, and reporting activities. The successful candidate must be capable of independently preparing and signing off geotechnical reports, managing teams and laboratories, coordinating with authorities, and delivering complex projects to international and local standards.

Key Responsibilities

Geotechnical Investigations & Engineering

Plan, manage, and supervise geotechnical investigation programs, including borehole drilling, trial pits, sampling, and in-situ testing Supervise and interpret SPT, plate load tests, permeability tests, compaction tests, field density tests, and groundwater monitoring Review and approve borehole logs, soil stratigraphy, and field records Analyze soil and rock parameters to determine safe bearing capacity (SBC), net allowable bearing capacity (NABC), settlement, and ground behavior Provide shallow and deep foundation recommendations, excavation guidelines, and ground improvement solutions

Reporting & Technical Documentation (Mandatory)

Independently prepare, review, and finalize geotechnical investigation reports (factual and interpretative)

Write clear, technically sound reports compliant with municipality, ENAS, consultant, and international standards (ASTM, BS, EN) Integrate field data, laboratory results, and geophysical findings into complete final reports Respond to consultant and authority comments and revise reports accordingly Review and approve reports prepared by junior engineers and ensure technical accuracy and consistency

Laboratory Management & QA/QC

Manage soil, aggregate, concrete, and water testing laboratories Ensure full compliance with ISO 17025 / ISO 9001, ASTM, BS, and project specifications Conduct internal audits, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement programs Oversee calibration, documentation, test scheduling, and sample management

Team Leadership & Field Operations

Lead and manage geotechnical engineers, lab technicians, drillers, and site teams Plan manpower, equipment, and resources across multiple projects Supervise drilling works, sampling techniques, and field testing execution Ensure HSE compliance across all geotechnical and drilling operations

Authority, Client & Consultant Coordination

Act as the primary technical interface with clients, consultants, and authorities Manage submissions, approvals, and follow-ups with municipalities and accreditation bodies Attend technical meetings and represent the company in reviews and audits

Geophysics & Advanced Ground Investigations (Advantage)

Oversee or coordinate MASW, electrical resistivity, seismic refraction, and cavity detection studies Integrate geophysical results with borehole and laboratory data

Commercial & Business Support

Support tendering, technical proposals, and cost estimates Assist in scope development, method statements, and prequalification documents

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Geology Master's degree is an advantage 10-15+ years of experience in geotechnical investigations and soil testing Proven UAE / GCC experience with authority approvals Strong background in laboratory management, QA/QC, and reporting Experience in infrastructure, marine, pipeline, or underground projects is a plus
