We are looking for a General Manager (GM) to head the organisation in Waste Management.

You will provide vision and leadership to the company by assisting the management (UAE CEO, COO, CFO) and staff members with the development of long and annual business plans. You will establish and accomplish business objectives with the use of all company policies, processes, systems and procedures to achieve the VESE and VMER business objectives in the short, medium and long term through continuous improvement, sound financial management and in accordance with the Integrated Management System.

Your scope of work will represent 200 MAED revenues and more than 900 employees.

Key Responsibilities :

Main skills
  • To develop and implement business strategies, policies and processes for the general management and business development for the broad spectrum of activities in Waste Management Services in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in relation with the UAE BD Director, the UAE CEO and COO)
  • Manage and ensure performance of the company as the profit-centre head.
  • Grow and develop the existing businesses and markets while striving to increase the customer base and sales turnover at a competitive pricing with timely receivables.
  • Pursue new business opportunities and related adjacencies such as green initiatives and recycling, in relation with the UAE BD Director
  • Position the company in a competitive position in the market.
  • Maintain regular contact especially with major customers to maintain high service-standards and to seek feedback from them so that the company can effectively implement a programme of continuous improvement.
  • Manage all subcontractors and ensure their compliance with their contractual obligations as well as their timely payment and compensation.
  • Make major procurement decisions in close coordination with the involved departments (Procurement, Finance\xe2\x80\xa6)
  • Lead the efforts in ensuring that the appropriate business systems, processes and controls are in place.
  • Develop & maintain a motivated environment that brings out best individual & team efforts and ensures high productivity & effectiveness within staff performance. Support all HR processes and initiatives such as staffing, Learning & Development and Talent Management in line with the company policy guidelines.
  • Ensure each Department Manager owns an identified action plan in line with the company objectives.
  • Evaluate the costs and benefits of all new ideas and initiatives to ensure that resources are appropriately directed and to keep the business ahead of its competitors.
  • Maintain an awareness of the latest developments and technology in Waste Management Services and in automotives, and to ensure that the company continues to take advantage of the latest thinking in these areas.
  • Take overall responsibility of company budget planning - with the assistance of the Financial controller, and the supervision of the UAE CFO- to ensure a proper financial management of the company.
  • Enforce performance standards, organizational policies, provide direction and motivation to functional managers and employees as well as ensure that adequate training is being imparted to staff members as required to meet the company objectives.
  • Maintain add-on quality, health, safety and environment standards as well as partner with the Government of UAE/ Abu Dhabi and Dubai/other Emirates concerned its affiliates and other similar organizations in such endeavours.
  • In case of major emergencies be on-call available and make - together with the heads of departments - decisions to mitigate harm and impact on the health and safety of staff members and third persons and on own or foreign property.
  • Liaise with government, semi-government and related institutions for statutory compliance and complement our public relation initiatives.
  • Ensure that the company adheres to all applicable laws and regulations. Other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Attend and report regularly to the company\'s board of directors and implement the general strategic decisions issued by the board.
Quality Health Safety & Environment
  • Understand, implement and follow the QHSE policy.
  • Report any HSE incident immediately as per UAE HSE procedures.
  • Implement and coordinate QHSE procedures onsite.
  • Ensure that the company\'s operations are executed at all times in such a manner as to ensure, so far as it is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all employees and others who may be affected by its operations and the protection of the environment.
  • Ensure there is an effective company policy for quality, environment, occupational health & safety and that all employees, contractors and temporary workers are made aware of their individual responsibility.
  • Ensure through the appointment of competent persons, that the company\'s responsibilities as employer are met in the topic of QHSE.Ensuring that all Managers understand and fulfil their responsibilities with regards to QHSE.
  • Arrange for funds and facilities to meet the requirements of company policy and legislation.
  • Ensure that notification and reporting procedures to the relevant statutory authorities are carried out.
  • Make provision for adequate and appropriate training to be given to all employees.
  • Provide the HSE department the means of ensuring his/her duties as per the HSE policy of the company
  • Review all the updates in the management system as proposed by QHSE Coordinator, and validate it with the UAE QHSE Manager

  • Ensure effective, accurate and prompt communication with all other departments, clients, suppliers and Veolia teams in relation with the UAE Communication & Marketing Manager
Qualifications

Education Level
  • Hold a relevant educational qualification from a well recognized and reputable academic institution fit for the required job function.
Experience
  • Minimum 20 years experience in the same field in a well reputed organization within various levels with minimum 10 years experience in the same position, preferably in the GCC region.
Technical Skills
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • UAE valid light vehicle driving license is a must.
  • Innovative and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective problem identification, problem solving and improvement implementation.
  • Performance Management, Staffing, Management Proficiency, Coordination, Coaching, Developing Standards, Financial Planning and Strategy, Process Improvement, Decision Making, Strategic Planning, Quality Management.
