Denver Health is recruiting a bariatric and general surgeon to join our team. This surgeon will participate in the Denver Health Bariatric Surgery Center, elective non-bariatric general surgery, and emergency general surgery (EGS) call. This position is associated with a faculty appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Denver Health serves as a satellite site for several fellowships, residency programs, and medical schools; education of residents is a core responsibility of our surgical faculty. The Denver Health Bariatric Surgery Center is an American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric (ACS) accredited comprehensive bariatric surgery center, sees greater than 500 referrals per year, and performs approximately 125 surgeries per year. The center provides multidisciplinary, team-based care to our patients, with partnerships with behavioral health, general internal medicine, endocrinology, and dietary services. There is a strong link with community-based programs such as the Healthy Lifestyles Clinic. The bariatric center has experienced substantial growth over the last three years, and plans to add an adolescent bariatric center in July, 2022. Elective, non-bariatric surgery in the department consists of "bread and butter" cases, such as cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and soft tissue mass excision, as well as colorectal surgery, surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, and endocrine surgery. The EGS Service at Denver Health performs over 1,000 operations annually, maintains an average daily census of fourteen patients, and spans all aspects and scope within this field. The service engages in classic EGS, as well as emerging techniques such as minimally invasive treatments of diverticulitis and perforated peptic ulcers, endo luminal stents and vacuum therapy (endo-VAC), and laparoscopic, trans cystic common bile duct clearance.
