Job Summary:

The General Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in accordance with safety regulations and technical standards. This role involves troubleshooting electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring that all electrical work is completed to high-quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and equipment in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. Inspect electrical components, such as circuit breakers, transformers, and wiring, to identify hazards, defects, and necessary repairs. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using proper tools and techniques. Test electrical systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with codes. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to reduce downtime and repair costs. Adhere to all relevant safety procedures and electrical codes (local, national, or international). Maintain records of all maintenance and repair work. Collaborate with other tradespeople and contractors to complete projects efficiently.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and safety standards. Ability to use electrical testing equipment and hand/power tools. Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Physical fitness and ability to work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, at heights). Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Qualifications & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in electrical work. Minimum 2-5 years' experience as an electrician. Valid electrician's license or permit (as required by local regulations).

Working Conditions:

Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions. May involve working at heights, in confined spaces, or during extended hours. Exposure to electrical hazards; strict adherence to safety protocols required.
