ROLE SUMMARY
AstraZeneca is accelerating the expansion of our geographical footprint in rare diseases following the acquisition of Alexion in 2021. Rare diseases is a high-growth therapy area with rapid innovation and significant unmet medical need. Over 7,000 rare diseases are known today \xe2\x80\x93 yet less than 1% of them have an approved treatment.
As we begin to build our position as a Rare Disease leader, we seek a Rare Diseases Diagnostics Manager to join our Commercial Team in the GCC. The role is a full-time position, responsible for developing and implementing rare disease brand strategies.
The Diagnostics Manager will work very closely with the Market Access & Diagnostics Head to deploy and adapt the AZ brand strategy to the local market, including tactics and execution.
The Diagnostics Manager reports to the Market Access & Diagnostics Head.
Ensures timely, high quality in-market companion diagnostics / testing solutions to enable optimal treatment throughout the patient journey. Develops strategic and long-term partnerships with relevant Rare Disease stakeholders and decision makers in the complex Rare Disease ecosystem, based on a deep scientific understanding of diagnostic tests and the clinical operational issues on the testing pathway, enabling tailored testing solutions to be developed.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do
Develops strategic partnerships
Assesses different testing options in the markets and select and qualify diagnostic partners and testing labs
Identifies and collaborate with national diagnostic and clinical opinion leaders to identify, design and execute activities to optimise the provision of diagnostics associated with the respective brands
Removes barriers to testing through collaborative partnerships with diagnostic companies, lab networks, KOLs and HCPs
Helps develop testing pathway robustness in all key national clinical centres, including local protocol support, working on identifying and removing bottlenecks in testing pathways, e.g., in counselling
Presents credibly to a wider audience in order to act as company spokesperson on diagnostic scientific matters at congresses, symposia and scientific meetings
Develops diagnostic strategy
Develops, evaluates and delivers the national diagnostic strategy for the current and future Rare Disease products, play a role in shaping national policy
Generates diagnostics-related insight to shape national brand strategy and tactics
Monitors and propose improvement plans for diagnostic related brand performance
Ensures in-market companion diagnostics / testing excellence for all product launches, including market readiness evaluation to inform go/no go decisions
Supports testing by improving the testing environment
Supports in-market registration / regulatory approval of future companion diagnostics / other testing solutions as required
Identifies issues in current testing landscape and working with external stakeholders to develop solutions to remove or minimize diagnostic barriers to therapy use, e.g., by optimizing testing pathways
Works with P&MA to identify innovative access / reimbursement solutions for companion diagnostics
Develops and help drive diagnostic quality assurance (QA) programmes
Utilises diagnostics related evidence for medical education activity (e.g., medical evidence, real-world evidence and epidemiology) and identify evidence gaps for either global or local plans to bridge
Build capability in internal and external stakeholders
Acts as subject matter expert for external stakeholders
Delivers diagnostic related educational initiatives including meetings, exhibitions, congresses/symposia, digital activities
Gives relevant stakeholders in the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and Decision Making Unit (DMU) and testing labs a stronger understanding of the diagnostic landscape, challenges and potential testing solutions
Acts as an educational resource to internal colleagues
Develops diagnostic expertise in cross-functional team i.e. medical, sales, payer evidence
Engages with, lead and partner with all members of the cross-functional team on all diagnostic related activities
Provisions key inputs to P&MA strategy build and implementation including pricing and reimbursement cases for therapy and associated diagnostic tests
Demonstrate business ethics and ensure active respect of values, business ethics, local laws, policies and Marketing procedures. Ensure all activities and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with the high standards of ethics and integrity required by the Code of Conduct, supporting Policies and Standards and Company Values to protect and enhance long term performance and reputation

Essential for the role
Medical/pharmacy degree
Experience of broad range of diagnostic, pathology and therapeutic marketing in the pharmaceutical industry
True understanding of market-specific diagnostic / testing environment and Rare Disease ecosystem
Strong influencing skills, ability to engage and collaborate with relevant stakeholders, to present credibility, build and maintain trustful and mutually beneficial relationships
Team player, understands is part of a cross functional team and contributes fully by sharing information and linking insights
Drives results and is customer oriented
Very good analytic skills with ability to see results and effects from a broader perspective
Strong project management skills
English Fluency
