The Gas Technician at Lootah BCGas is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of gas pipelines and associated equipment. This pivotal role involves conducting regular inspections, troubleshooting, and undertaking repair tasks to uphold the integrity and safety of the gas pipeline network.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Routine Inspection:
Conduct regular inspections of gas pipelines, valves, and associated equipment to detect and rectify potential issues promptly.
2. Maintenance and Repair:
Perform maintenance tasks, repairs, and replacements of pipeline components while ensuring strict adherence to safety standards and regulations.
Capable of reading electrical wiring drawings and executing minor wiring and relay logic modifications related to control systems.
3. Emergency Response:
Respond swiftly to emergency situations such as gas leaks or equipment malfunctions.
Implement appropriate safety measures and undertake necessary repairs to mitigate risks promptly.
4. Testing and Calibration:
Conduct testing and calibration of gas measurement equipment to guarantee accurate readings and compliance with regulatory standards.
5. Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Complete work orders, reports, and other documentation accurately and promptly.
6. Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines during all tasks.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies at all times.
7. Equipment Operation:
Operate specialized tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of gas pipelines.
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and promptly report any faults.
8. Collaboration:
Collaborate effectively with other technicians and relevant departments to coordinate repair and maintenance activities.
Communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow.
9. Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of industry best practices, technological advancements, and safety regulations pertaining to gas pipelines.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and safety.
10. Familiarity with Gas Detection System and Mechanical Components:
Possess knowledge of gas detection systems and mechanical components commonly used in the gas field.
11. Interfacing with Gas Control Panel and Fire Panel:
Capable of interfacing with gas control panels and fire panels as required.
12. Understanding Panel Wiring Logic and Troubleshooting:
Ability to comprehend panel wiring logic and troubleshoot panels effectively.
13. Reading and Understanding Schematic Drawings:
Proficient in reading and understanding schematic drawings related to gas pipeline systems.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
3 to 5 years' experience in installing, calibrating, operating and maintaining equipment and instrumentation used in the gas industry
Natural Gas/LPG background
Minimum one year experience or awareness in commissioning / activation and decommissioning / disconnection of Gas systems
