Stitching Operator - Garment Factory

Job Summary:

The Stitching Operator is responsible for sewing garment components according to production requirements and quality standards. Operators must be skilled in handling various industrial machines based on the type of garment and construction method, ensuring high efficiency and minimal defects.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate industrial sewing machines as assigned (single needle, overlock, flatlock, etc.). Follow technical specifications and garment construction guidelines. Assemble fabric pieces accurately and efficiently. Perform routine machine checks and basic maintenance. Maintain cleanliness and organization at the workstation. Report any machine or quality issues to the line supervisor. Ensure production targets and quality benchmarks are met. Follow safety and compliance protocols at all times.

Machines and Skills Required:

Single Needle (Lockstitch)

Basic straight stitching; most common for garment panels

Overlock (3/4/5 Thread)

Edge finishing and joining seams (t-shirts, polos, etc.)

Flatlock Machine

Flat seam joining, mostly used in sportswear, activewear

Coverstitch Machine

Hemming, sleeve and bottom finishing (used in knitwear)

Fusing Machine

Attaching interlining to collars, plackets, waistbands

Buttonhole Machine

Making buttonholes with consistent spacing and finish

Button Stitching Machine

Stitching buttons securely on shirts, uniforms, etc.

Bar Tack Machine

Reinforcement on stress points (pockets, belt loops)

Zigzag Machine

Stretchable seam applications, embroidery reinforcement

Requirements:

2+ years of industrial stitching experience (knits or woven garments). Proficiency on at least 2-3 different machine types. Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Ability to follow production patterns and quality control procedures. Willingness to learn additional machines as needed. Team player with a positive attitude and discipline.
