Key Responsibilities:Operations & Merchandising:
Supervise day-to-day activities across all fresh departments (F&V, Bakery, Fish & Butchery).
Ensure correct product handling, rotation (FIFO/FEFO), and attractive product displays.
Monitor product freshness, quality, and hygiene in accordance with company and health standards.
Coordinate timely refilling, markdowns for near-expiry items, and removal of spoiled stock.
Inventory & Ordering:
Monitor stock levels and assist in daily ordering to ensure product availability and minimal waste.
Conduct regular stock checks to control shrinkage and report discrepancies.
Collaborate with the central warehouse and local suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
Sales & Customer Service:
Maintain product knowledge and assist customers with inquiries regarding freshness, origin, or preparation.
Implement promotions, in-store sampling, and displays to boost sales in the fresh category.
Monitor and analyze section performance; suggest initiatives to improve sales and reduce loss.
Team Supervision:
Manage a team of department assistants, ensuring productivity, grooming, and discipline.
Train new and existing staff in section-specific SOPs, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Plan daily task schedules, allocate responsibilities, and ensure smooth shift handovers.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
Conduct routine cleaning schedules and ensure cold chain maintenance (where applicable).
Report maintenance issues or equipment faults for quick resolution.
Qualifications & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; diploma/certificate in food safety or retail operations preferred.
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory role within a fresh food retail environment.
Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and cold chain practices.
Experience handling perishable items and understanding of seasonal availability.
Basic computer skills for inventory and reporting.
