Role Description

The FP&A Accountant is a multi-disciplinary position which plays a critical role in the day-to-day functions of the Management Accounts team, as well as providing diligent financial planning and analysis of the Middle East operations. The FP&A Accountant will work collaboratively with the regional management team, effectively utilising data to advise on performance improvement, risk management, and growth opportunities. They will be primarily responsible for developing the operating and financial plans required to optimize performance and achieve the region's strategic objectives. This is an all-encompassing, 360, financial role with a clear career path into a future Financial Controller role within the organisation.

Principle Accountabilities

Whilst not an exhaustive list, key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Responsibility for budgeting, forecasting both P&L and cashflow statements for all entities within the Middle East region.
  • Collect, analyse, and review quantitative data to create meaningful reports to drive business improvement.
  • Comparison of actual v forecast/budget and current month v prior month to understand the variances in the period.
  • Responsibility for managing and maintaining working 'audit ready' Management Account packs including balance sheet reconciliations for the entities under their remit.
  • Statutory Accounts Production - providing TB's, Ledger extracts and Balance Sheet accounts & samples to auditors for testing for the entities under their remit.
  • Involvement at key stages of development and play an integral part in the growth of Airswift accounting team.
  • Production and review of contractor margins using accruals and prepayments, ensuring that all revenue is accounted for and billed within IFRS standards.
  • Develop meaningful presentations of financial data and analyses to communicate financial results, recommendations and insights.
  • Work with business partners on spend optimization and strategic planning across departments and cost-centres.
  • Review current processes and provide suggestion on how to improve the way the data is processed.
  • Analyse and interpret financial data to provide good quality information to Country Managers and Regional Directors for strategic decision making.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with senior management team and all internal staff.
  • Partner directly with the wider finance team to collaborate on metrics, goals, and business reviews; and to ensure smooth operation of the finance department.
  • Dive deeply into financial data and become a subject matter expert to provide additional insights.
  • Work on corporate projects and initiatives that impact the entire organisation; such as Intercompany rationalisation, recharges, VAT health checks etc.
  • Meet defined department goals and KPI objectives.
Abilities Required
  • Must be ACA/ACCA qualified.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS.
  • Extensive knowledge of "Microsoft Dynamics 365" preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of "OneStream" preferred
  • Ability to effectively process and analyse complex data.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to manage high volumes of work.
  • Ability to work in time-sensitive environment with non-flexible deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to multitask with day to day workflow.
  • Ability to display resilience and overcome objections.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
Person Specification
  • Qualified accountant as specified above.
  • Work experience in Management Accounts role (or similar).
  • Self-motivated and possess the ability to work equally across a team or individually.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to strict deadlines. Must be able to manage own time efficiently.
  • Previous experience working with either one or more accounting system, ideally Microsoft Dynamics365.
  • Knowledge of Tempest payrolling system beneficial but not required.
  • Effective communicator who is articulate, professional and confident at all times, both with finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Robust and thorough knowledge of double entry bookkeeping.
  • Confident in challenging existing processes, and holding colleagues to standards set out by Senior Management.
