Job Title: Forklift Operator - Oil & Gas IndustryPosition Summary

The Forklift Operator supports oil and gas operations by safely operating forklifts and material-handling equipment to move, load, and unload heavy materials, drilling tools, tubulars, chemicals, and production equipment within yards, warehouses, and work sites. This role ensures accurate inventory movement and supports daily logistics while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate forklifts (standard, heavy-duty, and telehandler if required) to move materials, pipes, casing, valves, tools, and equipment. Load and unload trucks, containers, and flatbeds according to load-securement and HSE requirements. Transport materials between storage areas, maintenance bays, and staging locations. Perform pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance checks on forklifts and yard equipment. Maintain clean and organized yard/warehouse areas for safe and efficient workflow. Assist with inventory control, material tagging, and documentation using company systems. Follow all safety protocols including PPE use, hazard communication, and equipment lockout procedures. Support rig-up/rig-down logistics by preparing material loads and ensuring correct item allocation. Communicate with dispatchers, supervisors, and drivers to coordinate movement of goods. Report equipment defects, safety hazards, and operational concerns immediately.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Valid forklift operator certification (counterbalance, telehandler, or company-specific). 1-3 years of forklift experience; oil and gas yard or industrial environment strongly preferred. Knowledge of tubular handling, rig components, and material-handling procedures. Ability to read load sheets, manifests, labeling systems, and safety documentation. Ability to operate equipment in outdoor environments, including extreme weather.

Skills

Strong awareness of safety and hazard-prevention practices. Ability to handle heavy and oversized materials safely. Good communication and teamwork. Basic computer or handheld scanner skills for inventory tasks. Attention to detail and ability to follow operational procedures.

Working Conditions

Yard, warehouse, and outdoor work environments. Exposure to loud noise, heavy equipment, chemicals, and weather. Rotational shifts, overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
