Job Title: Fitter (Note: This is typically a mechanical role, but they work closely with electrical teams)
Reports To: Foreman
Summary: The Fitter is a skilled tradesperson responsible for assembling, installing, aligning, and maintaining mechanical components and machinery. Their work ensures that mechanical systems function correctly, which is often integrated with electrical control systems.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assembly & Installation: Assemble and install mechanical components, such as gears, bearings, shafts, conveyors, and pumps, according to engineering drawings.
• Alignment: Perform precise alignment of motors, couplings, and drive trains using tools like dial indicators and laser alignment systems.
• Fabrication & Repair: Fabricate and modify parts using machining tools (lathes, milling machines) or hand tools. Repair or replace worn or defective parts.
• Maintenance: Dismantle and reassemble machinery for overhaul and preventative maintenance. This includes tasks like greasing bearings, replacing seals, and checking for wear.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Electrical Technicians to integrate mechanical systems with their electrical controls, ensuring seamless operation.
• Safety: Adhere to all mechanical safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) for energy isolation.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: High School Diploma and completion of a mechanical fitting apprenticeship or vocational training.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience as a mechanical fitter in a relevant industry (manufacturing, construction, etc.).
• Skills:
• Expertise in reading mechanical assembly drawings and blueprints.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers).
• Strong skills in machining, welding, and metal fabrication.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Physical strength and dexterity for handling heavy components.
