The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of fire protection systems, hydraulics, and mechanical design principles.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Fire Pump System Design:
Design and engineer fire pump systems, including selection and sizing of pumps, motors, and associated equipment.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics for fire pump systems.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations, such as NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), UL, and other local fire safety standards.
Collaborate with other engineers to optimize fire protection systems for different projects (e.g., commercial, industrial, residential).

Drafting and Documentation:
Create accurate and detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and layouts for fire pump systems using AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant design software.
Provide as-built drawings and revisions when required.
Prepare and maintain design documentation, technical reports, and project specifications.
Ensure all drawings are complete and error-free and that they reflect the project requirements.

System Sizing and Analysis:
Conduct hydraulic calculations to determine appropriate pump sizing, flow rates, pressure requirements, and system performance.
Perform flow and pressure drop analysis for fire pump systems to ensure optimal performance.
Calculate and verify the power and operational requirements of the system components.

Collaboration with Project Teams:
Work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to ensure that designs are implemented correctly and meet client specifications.
Participate in project meetings, offering technical expertise and support.
Address any design or system issues that arise during the installation or commissioning phases.

Quality Control and Compliance:
Ensure that all designs are in compliance with fire safety standards, local codes, and regulations.
Provide technical support for system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure successful implementation.
Review and verify designs to ensure they meet project requirements and quality standards.

Client and Vendor Communication:
Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and provide design recommendations.
Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for specifications, product selections, and equipment procurement.

Continuous Improvement:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and fire protection standards.
Participate in training and development opportunities to improve design skills and knowledge.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Relevant certifications in fire protection design (e.g., NFPA certification) would be an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in designing fire pump systems or working with fire protection systems.
Strong knowledge of fire pump system components, hydraulics, and fire protection standards.
Experience in using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting tools.
Familiarity with local fire codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., NFPA, UL).
Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering/design software.
Strong analytical skills for system sizing and performance analysis.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
