Job Description

The Fire Pump Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire pumps and associated fire protection systems to ensure they comply with safety regulations, codes, and standards such as NFPA 25 and local authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities:



Perform routine inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire pump systems, including diesel and electric-driven pumps. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning fire pump systems and associated components such as controllers, valves, jockey pumps, and piping. Conduct flow tests, pressure readings, and performance checks to verify system functionality. Ensure fire pump systems meet all applicable codes (e.g., NFPA 20, NFPA 25) and manufacturer specifications. Maintain detailed service records, reports, and checklists for all work performed. Respond to emergency repair calls and be available for on-call rotation, if required. Coordinate with fire safety inspectors and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) during audits or inspections. Assist with installation and commissioning of new fire pump systems, if applicable. Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
