Job Summary:



The fire alarm and firefighting foreman is responsible for the on-site supervision, coordination, and execution of installation, maintenance, and repair work related to fire alarm and firefighting systems. This role ensures that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant local (e.g., UAE Civil Defense regulations) and international standards (e.g., NFPA). The foreman will lead a team of technicians and ensure projects are completed to the required quality and within the specified timelines.

Responsibilities:



Supervision and Team Leadership:

Supervise and direct a team of fire alarm and firefighting technicians, assigning tasks and monitoring progress. Provide technical guidance and support to team members. Ensure that all team members adhere to safety regulations and company policies. Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings. Monitor and evaluate the performance of team members. Identify training needs and recommend development opportunities.

Project Execution and Coordination:

Oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of various fire alarm systems (e.g., addressable, conventional) and firefighting systems (e.g., sprinklers, fire pumps, fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire suppression systems). Interpret and work from project drawings, specifications, and codes. Coordinate with other trades (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil) to ensure seamless integration of systems. Ensure that all work is performed according to approved methods and quality standards. Monitor project progress and report any delays or issues to the project manager.

Technical Expertise and Problem Solving:

Possess a strong technical understanding of fire alarm and firefighting system principles, components, and operation. Troubleshoot system malfunctions and implement effective solutions. Conduct site inspections to assess work progress and identify potential problems. Ensure compliance with relevant local (UAE Civil Defence) and international standards (e.g., NFPA, FM Global).

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

Ensure that all installations and maintenance work meet the required quality standards and comply with relevant codes and regulations. Conduct quality checks and inspections of completed work. Prepare and maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation reports, testing reports, and maintenance logs. Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed and submitted on time.

Safety Management:

Enforce strict adherence to all safety procedures and regulations on site. Identify and mitigate potential hazards. Ensure that all team members use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any accidents or near misses immediately.

Communication and Reporting:

Maintain clear and effective communication with the project manager, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders. Provide regular progress updates to the project manager. Prepare daily and weekly reports on work activities and site conditions. Attend site meetings as required.

Material Management:

Monitor the use of materials and ensure that they are used efficiently. Report any material shortages or requirements to the project manager. Ensure proper storage and handling of materials and equipment on site.

Qualifications:



High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in fire alarm and firefighting systems is preferred. Proven experience of 04 years as a foreman or leading technician in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm and firefighting systems. Strong technical knowledge of various fire alarm and firefighting system types and manufacturers. Familiarity with relevant local (UAE Civil Defence regulations and NFPA standards is highly desirable). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. A valid UAE driver's license may be required. Certifications from recognized fire safety organizations (e.g., NICET, FIA) are an advantage.

Preferred Skills:



Experience with specific fire alarm and firefighting system brands and models commonly used in the UAE. Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) integration with fire safety systems. First Aid and Basic Fire Fighting certification. Supervisory or leadership training.
