Job Description

Job Summary:

The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in accordance with industry codes and standards. The technician ensures that systems operate effectively to protect life and property from fire hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, program, and commission fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, manual call points, sounders, and other associated devices. Perform routine inspection and testing of fire alarm systems as per NFPA 72, local fire codes, and client requirements. Diagnose and repair system faults and perform corrective maintenance. Conduct periodic preventive maintenance of fire alarm components. Work with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems from various manufacturers (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Notifier, EST, etc.). Maintain accurate logs, test reports, and service documentation. Coordinate with contractors, electricians, and other trades during new installations or system upgrades. Respond to emergency service calls and resolve system malfunctions in a timely manner. Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and health & safety regulations. Participate in fire drills, training sessions, and safety audits as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

High school diploma or technical certification in electronics, electrical systems, or a related field. 2-5 years of hands-on experience in fire alarm system installation and servicing. Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, NFPA 72, and local fire codes. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and layout drawings. Experience with multi-brand fire alarm panels and devices. Good communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Physically fit and able to work at heights or in confined spaces when necessary. Valid driver's license (for site travel).
