Services Operations is the heart of Damen Services, which delivers its services to the clients of Damen Shipyards as a total services solution provider. Damen Services provides a wide range of customer support services around the world for all aspects of the commissioning, deployment, and lifetime extension of the ships and installations that have been supplied by the company. Its primary focus is the provision of customer services in relation to commissioning, repairs, guarantee support, servicing, and maintenance. Organising training sessions for crew members, the delivery of ships, maintenance management, and the supply of parts during construction work are also part of the services portfolio. An example of Non-maritime deliverables are the supply of equipment (dredge pumps, pontoons, systems, etc.). As a total services provider and business partner of the clients of Damen Shipyards, Damen Services is also responsible for the deployment of human resources for structural and long-term projects.

THE ROLE

Damen Services has initiated, in close cooperation with our various Sales divisions, the set up of several Service Hubs on strategic locations worldwide. The service hubs are responsible for carrying out all warranty related- and commercial projects and support part sales, with a high focus on taking into account customer satisfaction, project costs and quality. In the role of Financial Controller you will develop, implement and/or monitor the cost- project- and business planning and control cycle of the assigned finance domain and advise the business with a focus on finance policies and practices in line with corporate guidelines, strategy, plans and external rules and regulations in order to ensure the realization of (strategic) finance objectives and realize accurate, up-to-date and compliant control. You will report into our Service Hub Manager in Dubai / Sharjah and our Financial Controller in Gorinchem. In this role you are in close contact with the account team in Gorinchem in order to have them informed about project developments and aligning the communications towards your mostly internal customers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure the development, preparation and proper execution of periodical financial reporting for in- and external stakeholders and authorities according to defined formats and procedures and (local) legislation;
• Coordinate work provided by external financial service providers; e.g. accountant;
• Coordinate and support to Shared Service Center Finance (FSSC) on specific topics impacted by local legislation;
• Monthly analysis and reporting of financial results to our MD at Damen Services;
• Ad hoc analysis to support decision making;
• Coordinate planning & control cycle as well as identifying significant deviations to budget and latest estimate, including executing proper project control;
• Execute and monitor financial plans, budgets and forecast as well as ensure the analysis of any gaps between budget and realization in line with finance strategy and policies;
• Support the business in the translation of the own domain strategy into relevant KPIs, plans and dashboards for performance management;
• Focus on operational and tactical level;
• Review cash position of Damen and plan the maintenance of adequate funds through cash and other financial forecasts in line with finance strategy and policies;
• Contribute to formulating improvements to existing guidelines, procedures and standards for assigned department;
• Ensure the identification, analysis and control of (potential) financial risks with a threat to Damen assets or earning capacity and guide business in line with internal regulations and guidelines;
• Identify non-compliance and suggest contributions to improvements.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Higher vocational education (BA) level of thinking with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience;
• Numerically, accurate, proactive and independent;
• Good oral and written expression- and presentation skills;
• Thorough knowledge of- and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
• Excellent command of English in word and writing.
