A Dubai-based Finance Manager is required for a growing commodities trading company. The Finance Manager will oversee all accounting, finance, and administrative functions to ensure the company's financial health and regulatory compliance. This role involves managing day-to-day accounts, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing timely reports to support decision-making. The Finance Manager will report directly to the CEO and will be instrumental in implementing financial controls and processes as the business expands. Salary for this position is in the range of AED 12,000-15,000 per month, offered commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
: Oversee and manage the full spectrum of accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual) to the CEO and relevant stakeholders.
Cash Flow & Payables
: Monitor cash flow and working capital closely. Handle petty cash transactions and ensure proper reconciliation and replenishment of funds. Stay on top of all payables and due dates, ensuring suppliers and other obligations are paid on time. Implement strategies to optimize cash management and support the company's growing transaction volume.
Banking & Audit Liaison
: Liaise with banks, financial institutions, auditors, and other external stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and meet all financial requirements. This includes coordinating loan/credit facilities, managing bank communications, and preparing all documentation needed for external audits. Ensure that annual audits are completed smoothly and any audit recommendations are implemented promptly.
Taxation & Compliance
: Manage the company's taxation matters and regulatory compliance. Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns (e.g. UAE VAT) and ensure compliance with all audit and statutory requirements. Keep up-to-date with local laws and regulations, ensuring the company's financial practices meet legal standards. Maintain oversight of company registrations, licenses, and renewals, ensuring all corporate documents and compliance filings are handled accurately and on time.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
: Establish and enforce robust internal financial controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to safeguard the company's assets. Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy, particularly as the organization grows. Ensure proper checks and approvals are in place for expenditures, and maintain high accuracy in all accounting entries and financial data.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
: Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, management accounts, and analysis to the CEO. Provide insights on financial performance, highlighting key trends or issues. Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, working closely with senior management to develop financial plans that support strategic growth.
Administrative Oversight
: Supervise finance-related administrative tasks such as payroll coordination, expense management, and record-keeping. Ensure that all financial documentation (invoices, receipts, contracts) is properly filed and that company compliance requirements (e.g. trade licenses, insurance, audits) are monitored and fulfilled. Act as a point of contact for internal departments and external parties on finance-related administrative matters, facilitating smooth day-to-day operations.
Qualifications and Skills
Education
: Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or CA Inter (part-qualified Chartered Accountant), or an equivalent accounting degree. A strong foundation in accounting principles and standards is required.
Experience
: 5-8 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance, with a track record of increasing responsibility (at least a couple of years in a supervisory or managerial role is preferred). Experience in the commodities trading sector or a similarly fast-paced industry is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in using advanced financial software and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise platforms) for accounting and reporting, with expert-level Microsoft Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting. Comfortable with general IT tools and able to leverage technology to improve efficiency in finance processes.
Financial Knowledge
: Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS or GAAP) and familiarity with UAE financial regulations. Well-versed in taxation laws, and audit practices, with the ability to ensure full compliance. Capable of preparing financial statements, management reports, and conducting thorough financial analyses.
Communication
: Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to clearly articulate financial information to non-financial stakeholders and prepare well-written reports. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and negotiate with external parties.
Attention to Detail
: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial work. Must be diligent in reviewing numbers and reports, ensuring that accounts are error-free and all financial transactions are recorded properly. Committed to meeting deadlines for monthly and annual closing and delivering reports on time.
Leadership & Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Demonstrates integrity, reliability, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. Capable of working independently and taking initiative to improve processes. Experience in liaising with banks, auditors, and financial institutions is essential, reflecting the ability to handle external relationships confidently.
