The Female Complex Manager would be responsible for recruitment, training and selection for a new residential education operation, which includes RAs along with a full-time staff that sets the stage for more vibrant communities and will create a residential curriculum and living-learning communities like Sustainability and First-Year Experience. Additionally, the complex manager will be responsible for coordinating and serving as part of the new on-duty system in the evenings and weekends.
Job Responsibilities
Community and Student Leadership Development
Facilitate on-going training sessions, development activities, and on-going development for Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants.
Manage recruitment and training of approximately 60 student staff including Resident Assistants.
Resident Assistant (RAs) and Desk Assistants (DAs)
Work with full time staff in the halls to complete a performance appraisal system for student staff.
Create and maintain operating manuals for student staff positions.
Collaborate and coordinate a sense of community for the complex, the overall residential community, and AUS campus.
Create and sustain living learning communities for first year students and beyond.
Work with faculty and staff who are interested in forming living/learning communities.
Work closely with the senior staff in the assignment process in the halls to
maximize the community development opportunities.
Provide leadership for the execution of the residential curriculum (program model) to promote student development, a sense of community, and learning.
Manage Hall Council and Student Residential Life Committee so that students can have leadership opportunities in housing.
Student Conduct and Crisis Management
Work with Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution and Safety and Emergency Management on awareness training for students and staff.
Responsible for interpreting and upholding the university\'s rules and regulations by upholding the Student Handbook in a developmental manner.
Coordinate and serve in an on-call duty rotation each evening from 5 pm - 7 am for a population of 700-800 residential students.
Respond to crisis situations, such as medical or facilities related emergencies, behavioral concerns, and mental health situations.
Departmental Responsibilities
Collaborate and coordinate efforts with other complex manager and senior leadership in SRLD.
Participate and lead departmental functions, projects, or committees, including but not limited to community development initiatives, housing operations management, staff selection and training, student discipline process, assessment, and leadership development.
Represent the department on university-wide committees.
Participate is assessment plans for SRLD and OSA.
Participate in staff training and development opportunities offered by Residential Life and other campus departments.
Be an engaged member of the profession by being aware of current trends in Student Affairs and Higher Education.
Be involved in regional and national professional organizations and, when possible, attend local, regional, and national conferences.
Required Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills
Campus residence required, evening and weekend work, plus on-call responsibilities. The successful candidate must pass security clearance. Contract is subject to review and renewal on an annual basis, for no more than four consecutive years.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Bachelor\'s Degree
1-2 years of live-in residential life experience with preferred emphasis in higher education
UAE nationals are preferred.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Master\'s Degree.
3-5 years of live-in residential life experience with preferred emphasis in higher education
