(AUS) in the United Arab Emirates invites applications for a full-time, rolling-track faculty position (assistant or associate professor) in physical chemistry, starting Spring 2024 or Fall 2024. The successful candidate will be required to instruct general chemistry courses in addition to advanced courses related to their area of expertise. The successful candidate is expected to instruct courses at the undergraduate level as well as graduate courses in the PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (PhD-MSE) program.

Successful candidates must have professional experience reflecting strong commitments to teaching, research and service. As a university formed on the American model, with English as the language of instruction, we give priority to candidates who have experience in North American models of higher education.

Required Qualifications:

• A PhD in Chemistry
• An established record in teaching, research and service, or a clear ability to establish such a record at AUS

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a North American-style of higher education
• Experience in teaching introductory chemistry courses
• Experience in teaching courses in physical chemistry, physical biochemistry, surface chemistry, electrochemistry and/or computational chemistry
• Experience in conducting research in the aforementioned areas of expertise

The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences offers bachelor of science degrees in biology, chemistry and environmental sciences, and minors in biology, environmental sciences and environmental policy. The department currently has 17 full-time faculty members and 10 full-time laboratory staff actively engaged in research within the three disciplines.
