Fabrication Coordinator qualifications and expectations

Minimum Qualifications:

1.

Education:

o Diploma or Bachelor's degree in

Mechanical Engineering

,

Fabrication Technology

, or related field.

Experience Requirements:

10-15 years

of experience in offshore fabrication & Erection within oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industry.


Strong experience coordinating with

workshops

,

welding teams

, and

quality control departments

.


Proven track record with

piping

,

structural steel

,

pressure vessels

,

skids

, or

offshore modules

fabrication.


Familiarity with

international standards

(ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate daily fabrication yard activities with fabrication supervisors and subcontractors.


Ensure drawings (GA, isometrics, spool sheets, Support drawings) are followed correctly.


Track material availability and initiate requests to avoid delays.


Liaise with QA/QC for inspections (fit-up, welding, NDT clearance).


Familiarity with Testing methods.


Maintain up-to-date fabrication status reports and daily logs.


Monitor manpower utilization and fabrication KPIs.

Strong interpersonal and team coordination abilities


Excellent in technical communication (verbal & written)


Capable of managing multiple subcontractors or vendors


Able to thrive under tight schedules and changing priorities

HSE Compliance:

Ensure that fabrication activities comply with HSE standards and site rules.


Conduct toolbox talks, participate in safety audits and hazard observations.
