What Does an Events & Category Manager Do?
As the Events & Category Manager, you will own the end-to-end process of delivering high-impact events by overseeing procurement strategies, vendor selection, and logistical execution. Your role will ensure all activities are cost-effective, on-brand, and in line with Azizi's growth objectives.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Identify, select, and manage vendors across event categories - venues, catering, A/V, dxc3xa9cor, entertainment, logistics
- Develop event procurement strategies that balance quality, budget, and timelines
- Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor compliance with policies and standards
- Lead cross-functional coordination with internal teams (marketing, finance, operations) to execute events that support business goals
- Oversee logistical planning and real-time event coordination to ensure smooth execution
- Implement risk mitigation measures and ensure adherence to legal and safety standards
- Conduct post-event analysis, vendor performance reviews, and reporting to senior management
What Skills Are Needed for an Events & Category Manager in Dubai?
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Event Management, Marketing, or a related discipline
- 8+ years of experience in event management or category procurement, ideally in the UAE
- Strong background in managing hybrid or large-scale event formats
- Experience leading contract negotiations and supplier performance evaluation
Technical Skills & Certifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management platforms (e.g., Cvent, Eventbrite)
- Strong analytical skills for vendor analysis and budgeting
- PMP or similar project management certification is an advantage
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication, vendor negotiation, and team coordination abilities
- High attention to detail, multitasking, and ability to work under pressure
- Flexible to work evenings or weekends as per event schedules
- Comfortable with travel for on-site event management
