Role The Senior Engineer Renewables will provide expertise on technical aspects of utility scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hybrid) in feasibility stage, development stage, and tender/bid stage including interfacing with engineering consultants, technology providers and suppliers, with the aim of providing advisory to the Senior Manager for Renewables or to the Business Developer, improving bid competitiveness and ensuring sustainability and technical quality as required for safe and efficient construction, operation and maintenance of the asset.
Reporting
The Senior Engineer Renewables will be part of the Engineering and Technical Support Group (ETSG) for the Renewables Global Business Unit (RGBU) within the GCC and will report to the Head of Engineering and Technical Support Group MENA.
Key Accountabilities
Contribute on engineering work packages with respect to choice of technologies, technical configurations and for setting relevant performance, statutory, safety and quality requirements.
Preparing documentation for drafting owner specifications, including the incorporation of the latest group experience and standards.
Manage or support different work packages with technical advisors or owner\'s engineer and challenge their results.
Support to prepare all aspects and documentation of the technical-related contractual negotiations during business development: EPC, EPCM, PPA, OE, LTSA, etc.
Support to prepare Capex and O&M budgets integrating feedback from Group assets and Group specialists.
Support to prepare all O&M technical related documents for the bid (OM organization chart, O&M references, O&M Philosophy, etc.).
Provide ad-hoc support and advisory to operational assets and construction projects.
Perform technology watch and share knowledge within the ETSG team.
Hand-over technical aspects and documents to the Project companies and O&M companies.
Degree / Experience
Degree in an engineering discipline, bachelors or masters
At least 7 years of relevant experience in engineering of which at least 5 years in developing or constructing renewable energy projects including the ability to:
evaluate and perform feasibility studies
conduct technology configurations
determine construction strategies and operating philosophies
evaluate yield assessments and conceptual designs
perform techno-economic cost analyses for the full lifecycle of a project
draft, review and negotiate commercial and contractual agreements
Experience on competitive tenders in the Middle East would be advantageous.
