Job Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation. You will play a critical role in our bidding process, ensuring our proposals are both competitive and profitable. Your expertise will directly contribute to winning new business and building strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities

• Analysis & Preparation: Carefully review project plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Quantity Take-offs: Perform detailed quantity take-offs (QTOs) from architectural and engineering drawings using both manual methods and specialized software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff).
• Cost Database Management: Develop and maintain a database of costs for materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractors. Continuously research and update pricing to reflect current market conditions.
• Supplier & Subcontractor Liaison: Solicit and analyze quotes from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Evaluate their proposals for completeness and competitiveness.
• Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and propose mitigation strategies.
• Bid Preparation: Assemble all estimate components into a finalized, well-organized bid package for management review and submission to clients.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, clients, and owners to clarify scope, present estimates, and discuss potential value-engineering options.
• Post-Bid Analysis: Participate in bid reviews and handover meetings to successful project teams. Compare estimated costs to actual project costs to improve the accuracy of future estimates.

Industry-Specific Additions:

• Construction: Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction methodologies. Experience with conceptual estimating and hard-bid processes.
• Manufacturing: Experience with estimating machining time, material waste, tooling costs, and assembly labor. Knowledge of CAD models.
• Auto Body/Repair: Experience with estimating software like CCC One, Audatex, or Mitchell. Knowledge of automotive parts and repair procedures.

Qualifications & Skills
Required:

• Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role.
• Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
• Solid understanding of project management principles.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
