Lead and manage the estimation process for new vehicle programs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with program targets. Develop and maintain cost models for various automotive components and systems, considering manufacturing processes and material costs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing) to gather and validate cost data, driving consensus on estimates. Analyze and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering changes to accurately estimate project costs and impact. Conduct value engineering studies to identify cost reduction opportunities without compromising product quality or performance. Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns and reports to management, highlighting key cost drivers and risks. Monitor and track actual costs against estimates, identifying and explaining variances, and implementing corrective actions. Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and cost-saving methodologies to enhance estimation accuracy and efficiency. Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for components and services, ensuring favorable terms and conditions. Mentor and train junior estimators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

Desired Candidate Profile

Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, or related field) or equivalent. Requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive cost estimation or related roles, with a strong understanding of vehicle manufacturing processes. Demonstrates expertise in cost modeling, value engineering, and cost analysis techniques, including the use of specialized software. Exhibits a deep understanding of automotive components, systems, and their associated costs, with a focus on materials and manufacturing. Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical information and data. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams. Exhibits proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software tools for data analysis, reporting, and presentation. Displays a proactive and results-oriented approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Has experience in a global automotive environment, with knowledge of different manufacturing locations and associated cost structures.
