The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and pricing for commercial interior fit-out projects.
This includes analyzing drawings, specifications, and scope of works to develop competitive and accurate quotations
. The role requires close coordination with design, procurement, project, and commercial teams to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents to develop accurate cost estimates.
Prepare detailed take-offs and quantity measurements from architectural and MEP drawings.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain up-to-date pricing for materials, finishes, and specialized systems.
Develop itemized and consolidated cost breakdowns for all project components (civil, MEP, joinery, finishes, etc.).
Assist in preparing and submitting tender documentation, including pricing schedules, method statements, and technical compliance documents.
Conduct site visits when required to understand project requirements and constraints.
Collaborate with project managers, designers, and procurement teams to align estimates with actual execution plans.
Monitor and update the database of historical cost information for use in future projects.
Analyze post-contract variations and support the commercial team in pricing change orders.
Ensure that all estimates are compliant with client specifications, building codes, and internal standards.
Attend pre-bid and clarification meetings with clients or consultants as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
3-5 years of experience in estimation, preferably with a focus on commercial interior fit-out projects (e.g., offices, retail, hospitality).
Strong knowledge of fit-out construction methods, materials, and finishes.
Proficient in estimation and quantity take-off software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or Excel.
Solid understanding of MEP systems in fit-out works.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet tender deadlines.
Preferred:
Experience with LEED or sustainability-driven fit-out projects.
Knowledge of local market rates, codes, and construction standards.
Familiarity with contract formats such as FIDIC or Design & Build.
