The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for interior fit-out projects. The role requires analyzing project specifications, evaluating material and labor costs, and collaborating with vendors and project teams to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for interior projects, including materials, labor, and overheads.
Analyze architectural and MEP drawings to determine project scope and requirements.
Develop cost breakdown structures and BOQs (Bill of Quantities).
Vendor & Supplier Coordination:
Source quotations from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers for materials and services.
Evaluate and negotiate pricing to optimize project costs.
Project Analysis & Tendering:
Prepare tender documents, RFQs (Request for Quotations), and bid proposals.
Assess project risks, technical challenges, and cost-saving opportunities.
Assist in value engineering to propose alternative cost-effective solutions.
Technical & Design Collaboration:
Work closely with designers, project managers, and procurement teams to align cost estimates with design intent and execution plans.
Review variations and change orders, updating cost estimates accordingly.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain records of cost databases, pricing trends, and historical data for future reference.
Generate reports on cost analysis, budget variances, and profitability assessments.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Experience:
2+ years in cost estimation for interior fit-out projects.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift, Candy, or CostX).
Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and construction methods in interior works.
Knowledge of local market rates, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
