Support the organisation in fostering a Just Culture and promote the safety and wellbeing of our customers, staff, assets and environment.
To develop, monitor and implement the Keolis-MHI Environmental Management framework within the Dubai Metro and Tram contracts. Provide advice on continuous improvement the subject matter to the QHSE, Operations and Engineering & Maintenance management teams.
Lead the development & implementation of an environment and sustainability strategy for the business to ensure environmental risks are fully understood, properly quantified and effectively managed, to satisfy legal responsibilities & meet Keolis MHI KPI's.
To manage environmental and sustainability data to ensure accuracy and quality reporting and analytical purposes.
To make accurate weekly, monthly and annual reports on incidents and performance of the Dubai Metro and Tram operations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Managing the effective implementation of the company's environmental and energy management system in compliance with ISO14001 & ISO50001, legislation and contract requirement including the effective identification of environmental and energy aspects and impacts, in conjunction with the Quality Management Systems.
• Develop and implementation of the Environmental Strategies, Policies, Procedures and Energy Management Goals and Objectives. Participate in internal and third-party led environmental compliance audits.
• Monitor and interpret local and federal environmental and energy laws and regulations. Prepare and provide environmental guidance and compliance directives to the Operations and Maintenance Team. Communicates and ensures conformance to Keolis-MHI environmental policy, programs and practices.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and advises QHSE, Operations and Engineering & Maintenance Management on adherence to current regulatory issues and changes to the laws, including identifying deficiencies and assisting with developing and implementing corrective actions.
• Direct the strategic energy management, industrial railway site energy management and industrial railway process energy efficiency.
• Oversees submittal of applications for environmental permits, certifications and authorizations for Dubai Metro and Tram including new and/or relocated of emission control equipment.
• Evaluate and recommend the selection and design of environmental control equipment.
• Take the lead on sustainable green procurement for all goods and services.
• Manage investigations into environmental and energy incidents.
• Driving waste minimization techniques and maximizing opportunities for re-use, re-purpose, recycle.
• Provide expert advice to others in addressing specific customer inquiries related to environmental aspects and impacts of the Dubai Metro and Tram operations.
• Drive continuous improvement of environmental and energy management programs to meet or exceed regulatory requirements and add value to the Keolis-MHI Business.
• Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, environment and Energy accidents and workplace hazards.
• Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy.
• Audit, analyze and report environmental performance to internal and external Stakeholders and Regulatory Bodies.
• Carry out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce an organization's environmental risks and financial costs.
• Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues.
• Train/brief staff at all levels on environmental and energy issues and responsibilities.
• Negotiate environmental and energy service agreements and manage associated budgets.
• Set organizational sustainability targets, developing plans to meet those targets and oversee their delivery.
• Manage the team of environmental experts of Keolis MHI (contract & permanent staff)
• Perform and carry out other duties as instructed by the Safety, Assurance & Environment Director.
• Participate in HR systems and initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Keolis-MHI and ensure adherence to these requirements always whilst in employment.
• Broad understanding of the KM values & 4P's (Passengers, People, PTA & Planet).
• Understanding of KM committed obligation relevant to your section & QHSE.
• Awareness of QHSE KPI's relevant to your section & the role you play in efficiently delivering them.
• Broad understanding of the financial penalties aligned to KPI's (where relevant).
• Full understanding of the departmental plan for your QHSE section.
• Actively supports and collaborate with others in QHSE, KM & contractors to deliver KM requirements.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Good understanding of recognised standards for Environment (ISO 14001) and (Energy Management (ISO 50001).
• Investigation of environment related incidents.
• Working knowledge of relevant environment legislation & standards and compliance.
• Management of statutory requirements.
• Knowledge of railway organisational structures and standards, workflows, procedures and terminology (Preferred).
• Managing a robust team to achieve environment and energy objectives.
• Innovator to develop new ideas to enhance the environment and energy initiative.
• Training/briefing employees to be part of environment and energy awareness programs.
• Undertakes & documents (as evidence), continual professional development (CPD) as part of the Performance & Development plan set by their line manager. This will be supported by KM where possible but should also include self-development activities.

KEY SKILLS

• Ability to use and calibrate various electronic test equipment and software to conduct environmental test and measurements.
• Sound planning and organizational skills to develop and maintain robust and sustainable environmental programmes.
• Ability to write technical and audit reports, routine business correspondence etc.
• Sound computer skills particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) & other BI tools such as Q-Pulse
• Hold a valid UAE driving license
• Demonstrated planning, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop solutions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for working collaboratively across all levels.

EXPERIENCES

• Minimum 5 year, preferably 7 years, of work experience as an Environmental and Energy Advisor in the transport or similar industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge in environmental and energy technology, and regulatory concepts and requirements, including but not limited to:

? Environmental and Energy Management Systems, Auditing and due diligence.
? Internal or Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 * Experience in supporting the environmental efforts and providing expert information, advice and training, liaising with external agencies.
EDUCATIONNAL QUALIFCATIONS

• Degree in Engineering or Science.
• Internationally recognised environmental qualification e.g. NEBOSH or IEMA or equivalent.
