Engineering Supervisor
Reports To: Chief Engineer / Facilities Manager / Director of Engineering
Supervises: Technicians (General, AC, Kitchen, Electrical, Plumbing), Maintenance Assistants
Job Overview:
The Engineering Supervisor is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the engineering and maintenance department. This position ensures the optimal performance, preventive maintenance, and repair of all facility equipment, systems, and physical assets. The supervisor directs a team of technicians, manages work orders, coordinates projects, and upholds the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Team Management: Schedule, assign, and supervise the work of the engineering team. Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and technical training, and foster a culture of safety and excellence.
• Preventive Maintenance Program: Develop, implement, and rigorously manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
• Work Order Management: Prioritize and distribute daily work orders (corrective and preventive). Monitor completion rates, quality of work, and ensure accurate documentation within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Project Coordination: Plan and oversee minor installation projects, renovations, and equipment upgrades. Liaise with contractors, obtain quotes, and ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
• Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting: Serve as the senior technical expert, providing hands-on guidance and resolving complex system failures, particularly with HVAC, power distribution, and control systems.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.). Maintain all safety certifications, conduct regular safety meetings, and manage chemical and refrigerant logs.
• Budget & Inventory: Assist in preparing the annual maintenance budget. Manage inventory of critical spare parts, tools, and supplies to ensure operational readiness.
• Emergency Response: Act as the primary point of contact for after-hours facility emergencies, developing and executing response plans for system failures, power outages, or other critical incidents.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Technical degree or relevant certification (e.g., Stationary Engineering) preferred.
• Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on technical experience in facility maintenance, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Proven expertise in HVAC/R, electrical systems, plumbing, and building automation systems (BAS).
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills (CMMS, MS Office).
• Required licenses/certifications may include: Universal EPA 608, HVAC Master License, Electrical License, or equivalent.
