Engineering Manager (O&G EPC) - Engineering and Construction Firm

Position Summary:

Our esteemed client is a leading Engineering and Construction firm based in Abu Dhabi, specializing in providing tailored Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) solutions for the Oil & Gas and Energy Sectors. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead engineering operations to ensure the successful execution of projects and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage in-house and outsourcing engineering, multi-disciplinary engineering management.

Maintain strong relationships with key client positions.

Oversee Engineering work by contract engineering and design teams.

Lead, manage, and provide day-to-day direction to a team of engineers.

Equip the contract engineering team with high-caliber engineers.

Manage contract engineering and design resource requirements in line with contract needs.

Promote effective communication within the Engineering team to foster safe, cost-effective, fit-for-purpose designs.

Provide technical leadership and decision-making for engineering work.

Participate in and lead project safety and design reviews.

Provide technical assistance, direction, and support during construction and installation activities.

Ensure competency assessments for engineering and design team members.

Lead technical investigations, identify root causes, and capture lessons learned.

Liaise and report Engineering Progress and Issues.

Troubleshoot design, identify, and resolve issues with engineering and fabricator through Site/Technical Queries.

Attending engineering progress meetings and generate status reports.

Manage the provision of input to technical proposals.

Assist construction personnel with general technical queries and details.

Complete work with quality and deliver according to schedule.

Enhance processes and procedures in the current engineering function and create new processes and procedures for large value EPC projects.

Lead a team of multiple discipline design engineers and draughtsman in the proper execution of engineering-related activities for various projects.

Be involved in detailed design calculations, preparation of engineering data sheets & specifications, shop fabrication drawings, and troubleshooting design problems.

Engage in pre-award activities such as preliminary design, preparation of tender drawings, material take-offs, cost estimation, collaborating with commercial/procurement, material sourcing, and vendor development.

Front-end with clients and handle queries and clarifications for various engineering disciplines.

Work closely with the project management team to ensure proper execution of the job within the specified scope.

Manage design issues with subcontractors and ensure compliance with client design.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

Either 10+ years of experience as a Senior Engineer or 5+ years' experience as an Engineering Manager in a large O&G EPC company or on O&G EPC Projects.

Bachelors degree in a relevant engineering discipline with a preference for Mechanical Engineering as an educational background.

Must be capable of leading multiple disciplines and effectively interface with all disciplines in-house and with those of the client.

Must have excellent design related skills in terms of interpreting designs and to help the design team produce working or production drawings effectively.

Experience working with multinational and multicultural project teams.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of engineering design and project delivery.

Thorough knowledge of international codes and standards.

Experience managing engineering teams.
