The Elevator Inspection Engineer is responsible for conducting thorough, independent inspections and certifications of elevators, escalators, and vertical transportation systems. The role ensures compliance with relevant safety regulations, codes, and manufacturer specifications. The engineer will be required to perform on-site inspections, review technical documentation, identify non-compliance or safety risks, and issue inspection reports or certificates accordingly.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform third-party inspections and testing of elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, and moving walkways.
Ensure all inspections comply with international and local safety codes (e.g., EN 81, ASME A17.1, ISO, Dubai Municipality standards).
Evaluate elevator components such as hoist machines, safety gears, buffers, guide rails, controllers, emergency brakes, and door locking devices.
Review technical drawings, test protocols, and manufacturer documentation for conformity.
Conduct load tests, functional testing, and emergency system checks.
Identify non-compliance, issue corrective actions, and follow up on rectifications.
Issue inspection reports, non-compliance notices, and certificates of conformity.
Liaise with facility managers, maintenance companies, and OEM representatives during inspections.
Maintain accurate records and logs of all inspections and certifications.
Assist in incident investigations or root cause analysis related to elevator failures or malfunctions.
Stay updated with new regulations, technologies, and industry trends.
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience in elevator inspection or maintenance.
Experience with elevator brands such as Otis, Schindler, KONE, Mitsubishi, or similar is a plus.
Familiarity with third-party certification processes preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of elevator and escalator systems.
Understanding of international elevator codes and standards (e.g., EN 81 series, ASME A17.1, ISO 22559).
Ability to assess safety, functionality, and installation accuracy.
Competency in drafting technical reports and inspection certificates.
Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving ability.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
