Responsibilities:
Design and Planning:
Develop detailed electrical designs for power distribution, lighting systems (normal and emergency), fire alarm systems, low voltage systems (data, communication, security), and other electrical building services.
Prepare calculations for electrical loads, voltage drop, short circuit analysis, and lighting levels.
Create schematic diagrams, layouts, and specifications for electrical systems.
Select appropriate electrical equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budgetary constraints.
Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, and plumbing drawings to ensure seamless integration of all building systems.
Utilize CAD (computer-aided design) and BIM (building information modeling) software such as AutoCAD and Revit to create and modify electrical drawings and models.
Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes (e.g., DEWA regulations in the UAE), and best practices in electrical engineering.
Project Execution and Supervision:
Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Conduct site inspections to monitor the installation of electrical systems and ensure adherence to drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.
Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve any technical issues or clashes during construction.
Oversee the testing and commissioning of electrical systems to verify proper functionality and performance.
Prepare progress reports and other project-related documentation.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with relevant local and international electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., DEWA, IEC).
Incorporate safety principles into designs to protect building occupants and maintenance personnel.
Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the development of safe work procedures.
Collaboration and Communication:
Attend project meetings to provide electrical engineering input and coordinate with the project team.
Communicate effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations as required.
Problem Solving and Technical Support:
Troubleshoot electrical system issues that may arise during design, construction, or operation.
Provide technical support and guidance to the construction team and end-users.
Propose effective solutions to electrical engineering challenges.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
A minimum of 04 years of experience in electrical design and supervision, preferably within the MEP sector.
Strong understanding of electrical systems and their application in buildings.
Familiarity with relevant local codes and standards (e.g., DEWA regulations for projects in Ras Al-Khaimah and Dubai).
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and BIM software (e.g., Revit MEP) is often required.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
A professional engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification may be preferred or required.
A valid UAE driver's license may be an advantage.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with specific electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, Dialux).
Knowledge of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient electrical systems.
Project management skills.
Experience in specific building types (e.g., high-rise residential, commercial, industrial).
