Electrical Engineer
Position Title: Electrical Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Chief Electrical Engineer / Engineering Manager
1. Job Summary
We are looking for a meticulous and forward-thinking Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and oversee the implementation of electrical systems and components. The successful candidate will be involved in projects from initial concept and schematic design through to testing, installation, and commissioning. You will be responsible for creating robust electrical solutions that power machinery, control systems, and electronic devices, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and compliant with all applicable codes and standards.
2. Key Responsibilities

• System Design and Development:
• Design electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, motor drives, and instrumentation.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SEE Electrical).
• Specify and select electrical components (e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, PLCs, VFDs, sensors) based on technical and commercial requirements.
• Design and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for industrial automation and control systems.
• Analysis and Calculations:
• Perform essential electrical calculations, including load flow analysis, short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and protective device coordination.
• Calculate voltage drop, cable sizing, and conduit fill to ensure system efficiency and safety.
• Analyze system performance and reliability, proposing enhancements where necessary.
• Testing and Commissioning:
• Develop and execute test procedures for electrical panels, control systems, and embedded hardware.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) to troubleshoot and debug electrical systems.
• Oversee the installation and on-site commissioning of electrical systems, providing technical guidance to technicians and contractors.
• Documentation and Compliance:
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design specs, BOMs, test reports, and operation manuals.
• Ensure all electrical designs and installations adhere to the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEC standards, UL standards, and other local and international regulations.
• Participate in and lead safety reviews, such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
• Collaboration and Support:
• Work integrally with mechanical, software, and civil engineers to deliver fully integrated systems.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing, maintenance, and field service teams to resolve electrical issues.

3. Qualifications and Skills

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
• Experience:
• Several years of experience in electrical system design, preferably in [e.g., industrial automation, power systems, building services, manufacturing].
• Proven experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI development, and control system architecture.
• Hands-on experience with electrical testing and troubleshooting.
• Technical Skills:
• In-depth knowledge of electrical theory, power systems, and digital/analog circuits.
• Proficiency with electrical design and simulation software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools).
• Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware is a plus.
• Soft Skills:
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
