ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strategic Leadership & Policy Development: Develop and implement internationalization strategies aligned with the university's mission, ensuring effective policies, structures, and processes to support global engagement.
  • Partnership Development: Lead and oversee the establishment of strategic partnerships with international institutions to facilitate student and faculty exchanges, joint and dual-degree programs, and research collaborations, among other initiatives. Additionally, oversee the evaluation, activation, and ongoing management of these partnerships to ensure alignment with institutional goals and long-term sustainability.
  • Student Mobility Programs: Develop and manage strategies and oversee the operations for inbound and outbound student mobility programs. This includes inbound short-term programs, visiting students, and student exchange programs, as well as study abroad programs (Outbound) such as faculty-led study abroad programs, internships abroad, and international service-learning or research opportunities.
  • Joint/Dual Programs: Lead the development of joint/dual-degree programs, transfer agreements and other academic agreements, overseeing both their establishment and the recruitment of AU students for outbound opportunities through these programs
  • Faculty & Research Engagement: Support faculty involvement in international research initiatives, funding opportunities, and global academic partnerships, and manage the faculty exchange program.
  • Financial & Administrative Management: Oversee budgets and resources related to international academic initiatives while ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
  • Institutional Representation & Advocacy: Represent the university in international forums and promoting global engagement efforts.
  • External Funding & Resource Development: Secure external funding to support student, staff, and faculty mobility, as well as international teaching, research initiatives, and academic collaborations.
  • Promote latest regional and global trends in programs and teaching approaches
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in international education, preferably in an academic institution
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including strategic planning, budgeting, and team building.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of international education policies, practices, and trends.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance issues in international education.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing international partnerships and collaborations.
  • Familiarity with international student and scholar services, study abroad programming, and international partnership development.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Understanding of the political, economic, social, and cultural contexts in which international academic programs operate.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to international education.
  • Ability to collaborate with academic units, faculty, and staff to integrate international education into the curriculum and co-curricular activities.
  • Knowledge of risk management, safety, and emergency protocols for international travel and programming.
  • Familiarity with best practices in assessment and evaluation of international academic programs and services.
  • Proficiency in a second language would be an advantage.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • The position requires occasional travel domestically and internationally for professional development, partnership development, or program implementation.
  • Working hours may be irregular and may include evenings and weekends to accommodate meetings with international partners or students, program implementation, or other events.
