This unique role requires a strategic thinker and an effective leader to drive the vision of the organization. Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive the vision and higher purpose of the organization, in its commitment to animal care, conservation and education.
  • Drive Strategic and Master Planning of the animal operation department, in-line with the vision of the destination, Aquaventure World.
  • Support the overall strategic approach to Sustainability - environmental, social and governance (ESG) \xe2\x80\x93 Atlantis Atlas Project.
  • Ensure compliance to standards outlined by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (and any other associations or members we strategically want to be associated with).
  • Create partnerships with stakeholders that drive the mission and help us to achieve goals (i.e., government agencies, suppliers, charities, and other groups).
  • Support new and existing collaborative conservation, research, and outreach projects; sponsorship opportunities, monitor project schedules.
  • Maximize revenue associated with the Animal Operations, developing existing streams and implementing new opportunities.
  • Maximize colleague learning and development opportunities, increase engagement, and reduce turnover.
  • Gain recognition and exposure for the animal operations department.
  • Work closely with Marketing and PR to promote all efforts to our stakeholders.
  • Development of the P&P\xe2\x80\x99s, SOP\xe2\x80\x99s, Manuals, Seminars and Applications for International Associations.
  • Responsible for the Operational Budget and CAPEX of the Departmen
Experience:
  • BS/ BA degree in biology, environmental science, conservation, education, sustainability or related field
  • 5-10 years of proven experience developing strategy, achieving results and leading a team.
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in formal or informal education environment (preferably with that experience being within a Zoo and/or Aquarium)
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in the development and implementation of education programs
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in managing conservation and/or education partnerships
  • Excellent skills in customer/guest interaction, including resolution of problems.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong public speaker, with the ability to readily adjust to audience
  • Proficient in current computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
