Reporting to the Lead Dietician, the Dietician role is responsible for planning, developing and implementing nutritional and dietary-care programs to patients/individuals in line with MH and DOH/DHA policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. The incumbent is also responsible for providing nutritional and diet-related counseling and advice to patients and their family members to improve their eating habits and ensure a healthy lifestyle. .
Responsibilities
Pro-actively participates in collaboration with the Line Manager to meet the division\'s strategic and operational goals.
Contributes to the development and improvement of \'business unit, division, department, section\' policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with the applicable standards and requirements of Joint Commission International (JCI), Legislation, Quality Standards, DOH/DHA, and all other applicable regulatory bodies.
Participates in meetings and maintains professionalism and confidentiality as per MH\xe2\x80\x99s standard code of conduct.
Performs nutritional screening on patients and consults with Physicians and relevant caregivers to assess patients\xe2\x80\x99 and individuals\xe2\x80\x99 nutritional needs, diet restrictions and plans. \xe2\x80\xa2 Customizes, modifies and implements nutrition programs and dietary-care plans for patients to improve their eating habits and lifestyle conditions.
Provides patients and their families with diet-related advice and counseling on nutritional principles, healthy eating habits, dietary plans and modifications, food selection, weight loss and cholesterol reduction. \xe2\x80\xa2 Supports medical caregivers in following up on post consultation activities such as patients\xe2\x80\x99 evaluation reports. \xe2\x80\xa2 Develops and maintains documents related to patients\xe2\x80\x99 dietary documents and records in an accurate and timely manner and reflects specific information and services provided to the patient. \xe2\x80\xa2 Participates in external events to create awareness on healthy living.
Assists in designing and implementing clinical programs, initiatives and services to ensure patient safety and quality healthcare delivery and participates in educational and research activities.
Provides supervision, guidance, on the job training and shares continuous constructive feedback for direct reports if required. \xe2\x80\xa2 Pro-actively identifies and meets self-development requirements for professional growth by developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness. \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintains the required Continuous Medical Education (CME) hours in compliance with DOH/DHA regulations.
Communicates effectively with team members and maintains good inter-departmental liaison to ensure smooth implementation of operational activities. \xe2\x80\xa2 Communicates in a culturally sensitive manner whilst interacting with patients to ensure seamless patient experience.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Dietetics.
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Health Science with a major in Nutrition and Post-graduate Diploma or Master in Dietetics.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience post qualification in the relevant field.
Completion of specialty qualification as per the recognized specialty certificate (Health Authority Abu Dhabi guidelines).
Certification and Licensure:
DOH/DHA Medical License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
