Job Summary:
Metaform Industries LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled
Design/Draftsman Engineer
to join our
Structural Steel Fabrication
team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing fabrication drawings, 3D models, and shop details based on project requirements and engineering specifications. Proficiency in detailing software and a solid understanding of structural steel components are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings (GA), erection plans, and shop details for structural steel components.
Create 3D models using industry-standard software (e.g.,
Tekla Structures
,
AutoCAD
, or
Advance Steel
).
Coordinate with structural engineers, project managers, and the production team to ensure accuracy and feasibility of designs.
Interpret and convert architectural and structural drawings into fabrication-ready documents.
Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, industry codes, and standards (e.g., AISC, BS, ASTM).
Revise and update drawings based on design changes or site feedback.
Maintain drawing files, version control, and documentation records.
Assist in quantity take-offs and material estimation based on approved drawings.
Participate in design coordination and review meetings.
Qualifications:
Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a draftsman or design engineer in structural steel fabrication.
Proficient in
Tekla Structures
, AutoCAD, and other 2D/3D drafting tools.
Strong knowledge of steel profiles, welding symbols, fabrication methods, and detailing practices.
Ability to read and understand structural and architectural drawings.
Familiarity with fabrication workflows and shop practices is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
