Job Purpose

The Design Structural Engineer will be responsible to organize, perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.

Accountabilities

Develop Economical/Optimum structural design along with Design calculation Provide high standard of drawings quality Coordinate as required with all disciplines during the design phase & ensure that the developed design meets expectations Provide the technical support to the site team as needed

Duties and Responsibilities

Design:

Prepare concept, preliminary and detailed Structural Designs, using computer-assisted engineering and design software. Ensure that designs are cost effective by the implementation of value engineering. Ensure completion of detailed Structural Designs ensuring Structural Designs are completed in accordance with the latest design codes, standards and safety measures. Evaluate & choose appropriate construction materials such as concrete, steel, or precast, etc. to ensure that it meets the structure design. Review the structure design and provide technical comment to the structure design obtained from External consultant. Present different structure design solutions with cost comparison and possible benefits to the system Coordinate with other disciplines title Architecture, MEP and other special design and check the structure is fit and functional them Supervise the project stakeholders and guide them appropriately Coordinate structural design with all other disciplines (Architectural, MEP, etc.) Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters. Assist in preparing the project specifications, B.O.Q. and other tender documents. Provide required technical support for supervision team. Review shop drawings / technical material submittals submitted by the contractor. Develop probable construction cost estimates for assigned projects within the department. Handle routine contract administration. Attend and participate in Client meetings. Managerial: Direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities (when needed) Serve as Project Engineer and as a designated Client contact on smaller, less complex projects (If needed) Any other duties / responsibilities as assigned time to time based on business requirements

Design skills with related Structural Analysis and Design computer software, such as: SAP2000 - ETABS - SAFE - STADD Pro Prokon - Limcon - CSI Columns - IDEA StatiCa ROBOT (advanced) Microsoft Office Creative, Ambitious & has a personal vision. Prioritization and scheduling of assigned tasks and duties. Flexible and adaptable. Energetic and enthusiastic.

Specialized Training/ Knowledge Required

Knowledge of LEED or GSAS (Optional) Understanding of the design of pre-tension / post-tension / hollow core slabs is advantage. Knowledge with all concrete and steel structures design systems is mandatory. Knowledge in AutoCAD proficiency Knowledge REVIT or BIM (Optional) Knowledge in Primavera and/or Microsoft Project (advanced) Knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications, and American codes and standards, but not limited to (Training is an advantage): Qatar Construction Specifications, QCS 2014 American Concrete Institute, ACI 318-14 American Society of Civil Engineers, ASCE International Building Code, IBC + American Institute of steel construction, AISC

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Science of Structural Engineering or any related field. MMUP Certificate Grade A or B

Experience

Minimum of 10 years' solid experience as Design Structural Engineer. Experience in structural design for High rise buildings / Schools / Factory and warehouses Experience in managing and performing projects in a fast-paced environment.
