Bachelor\'s degree in civil engineering or a similar relevant engineering discipline.
Chartered Status will be advantageous and preferred.
Demonstrated experience in the design of water and wastewater infrastructure.
Demonstrated experience of managing multidisciplinary design teams
Familiarity with international design review standards.
Experience of working in the Middle East will be preferred.
Experience within a consultancy environment specifically.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, experience in building effective business relationships.
Ability to use leadership skills to build and nurture relationships and creating effective high performing environments.

About the Role Our Water team is growing and we are hiring a Design Manager to be based in our Dubai or Abu Dhabi office. The Design Manager will be responsible for leading the technical delivery, as well as coordinating all design related activities, across a range of water and wastewater projects in the UAE / KSA including interfacing management with other Mott MacDonald offices globally.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
Day-to-day management / coordination of all design/design review activities, including document production, stakeholder management, quality control, and reporting.
Chairperson to lead design related meetings as required.
Conduct a designer\'s hazard elimination and management record (DHEMR) and value engineering.
Regular liaison with the client and/or contractor\'s representatives on all design related activities.
Administer the development and review of all designs and technical submissions.
Ensure adequate quality controls are in place for all disciplines i.e. QA/QC, contract compliance, etc.
Disciplined progress control and reporting to the Project Manager, and the client\'s representative.
Identify and report any design / scope changes.
Monitor the project\'s progress and the allocation of appropriate design and CAD resources.
Liaising with the Framework Technical Lead/Project Manager to resolve any technical issues associated with the design.
Draft and review the status and adequacy of all design plans; ensure their continuing effectiveness.
Identify and manage delivery of information required by the project teams and monitor progress against agreed timelines.
Identify and review risks and opportunities associated with the delivery of the design.
Ensure that Mott MacDonald\'s best practices are implemented in an effective and economic manner.
Provide recommendations that can aid with delivery and the projects financials.
Provide technical expertise and direction in the team and to mentor younger engineers.
